A shift is happening:
•Biden has cancelled his meeting with Netanyahu
•Harris will skip Netanyahu's speech to Congress
•Harris will meet with Netanyahu to tell him to stop bombing Palestinian civilians
•Seven major unions just sent a joint letter to Biden calling on him to "immediately halt all military aid to Israel" ahead of Netanyahu’s DC visit:
SEIU, NEA, UAW, UE, APWU, AFA, & IUPAT

Don't let up. Keep the pressure on until US stops funding genocide & starts rebuilding Palestine. Let's go.

@QasimRashid
I WAS TERRIFIED we were going to see a replay of #1968:

o #Convention in #Chicago.
o Brokered Convention with no nominee.
o "Foreign #War" #protesters causing a riot.
o Result: a criminal who believes he's #AboveTheLaw becomes #Potus.

All that seems to be highly unlikely now. Whew!

@QasimRashid @MugsysRapSheet protesters may have been the ones rioting but police and war mongers also caused the riots while simultaneously creating much more violence by refusing to de-escalate and the stop war at the time

riots aren’t in a vacuum it wasn’t just the protesters it was people in power responsible for the riots too. And, people in power burden more of the responsibility, than protesters

@Mad @QasimRashid
Just the mere disruption by anti-#Vietnam War protesters at the '68 #Convention was enough to doom the #Democrat's chances of victory.
@QasimRashid @MugsysRapSheet mere disruption is mere disruption and it’s a human right to be disruptive but to use authoritarian methods to quell dissent instead of humane action ruins your image and the democrats decide to ruin their image that night. They surely weren’t helping themselves that night and they shoulder most of the blame for it

@Mad @QasimRashid
Disruptive #Protesters vs #Riot police being brought in to break up those protests... either way, the look is bad.

Best to make sure there's no reason to protest in the first place.

@MugsysRapSheet @Mad @QasimRashid

This is a bit different though, mostly because the DNC is a target for bad actors and paid disruptors. That is one reason I myself advise against protesting at the DNC, because it's somewhat likely there will be paid agitators there, as it is an easy target.
I don't know if paid agitation was as big of a thing in 1968, but it sure is now (i.e. the "window buster" at the George Floyd protests)

See this article. https://www.justsecurity.org/70497/far-right-infiltrators-and-agitators-in-george-floyd-protests-indicators-of-white-supremacists/

Regardless, be careful.

Far-Right Infiltrators and Agitators in George Floyd Protests: Indicators of White Supremacists

Widely broadcast real-time video images challenge our beliefs about who is really protesting and for what reason.

Just Security
@MugsysRapSheet @manvsxerox @QasimRashid well I’m not against protesting even if there’s paid agitation.
But I’m against the authoritarian repression we saw that night in any scenario even against paid agitators there’s better ways to handle human beings

@Mad @MugsysRapSheet @QasimRashid
I agree, not here to stop you, everyone has a right to protest, just making you aware so people there can protect themselves. While I still advise against it, at the end of the day it's your right. Just be careful and make sure the organizers are aware as well.

Plan out where to protest and make sure they are set up in a way where it is hard for agitators to cause problems. If you do so, it'll work out best.

@Mad @MugsysRapSheet @QasimRashid

Also as a reply to myself, I only advise against it at the DNC, anywhere else is totally fine.

It's just the DNC that will have a lot of eyes on it, meaning there will be a good chance of agitation.

@MugsysRapSheet @QasimRashid Some context:

The Democratic convention in 68 operated the same as prior conventions.

There was a nominee who happened to be the then VP.

The protesters did not change the result of the convention but the protest did result in a change in how the Democrats nominating process works.

Nixon thought that as president he would be above the law but he also thought that he would be acting in the country’s interest.

@QasimRashid Keeping the pressure on, aye aye.

Glad we have one party that's willing to shift under pressure.

@QasimRashid Did we teleport into the good timeline?
@StefanoMusilli Not there yet my friend but definitely encouraged by these steps. Let's keep going!
@QasimRashid
I expect Nutenyahoo to use the opportunity to make a GOP stump speech.
Long live Palestine
Long live Israel
From the river to the sea, no sociopaths-none.

⬆️ @QasimRashid

#Netanyahu is persona non grata in the #UnitedStates, outside the #Trump and #MAGA world.

Would you please carry this message to Rashida #Tlaib and her #Muslim and #Arab-American constituents?

@QasimRashid could you link to the sources of these statements please. Not that I doubt them but others might...
@QasimRashid YES! 🙌 More of this kind of news, plz thx.
@QasimRashid there is no genocide. Don’t use words you have no clue about their meaning.
Rights expert finds ‘reasonable grounds’ genocide is being committed in Gaza

There are "reasonable grounds" to believe that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories said on Tuesday.

UN News
@Jon_Kramer @sequundi no shit, Capt obvious
@LeaBug @sequundi Now scroll up and read what I was responding to.
@Jon_Kramer @sequundi I did. That was meant to be sarcastic. Sorry.

@Jon_Kramer this is at least in parts bs and you know it. But it hurts your antisemitic agenda.

As long as hamas is not completely destroyed, there is no chance for peace whatsoever.

@Jon_Kramer @QasimRashid @sequundi

Two months of looking at the scholarly sources, especially from #GenocideScholars [1] led to the en.Wikipedia conclusion on 3 July that "Gaza genocide" is the appropriate title for the topic [2].

Genocide studies - Wikipedia

@sequundi @QasimRashid Genocide: the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group.

What, pray tell, do you think is happening to the Palestinians if not a genocide?

@ItsJenNotGoblin @QasimRashid The aim freeing Gaza from Hamas. It’s not the aim to kill all Palestinians.
EOD.

@sequundi @QasimRashid is that why they bombed 9 schools in 10 days?

You know, there's a lot of internet out there. You might try reading news articles. Like this one:https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2024/7/18/israels-war-on-gaza-live-all-rules-of-war-broken-as-gaza-schools-bombed

Or this one: https://www.democracynow.org/2024/7/12/israel

Or this one: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/7/22/israel-follows-up-evacuation-order-with-air-strikes-on-gaza-safe-zone

Or this one: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2024/7/24/israel-war-on-gaza-live-israeli-tanks-force-palestinians-into-crowded-camp

Or this one: https://truthout.org/articles/israeli-minister-calls-to-reduce-humanitarian-aid-as-palestinians-starve-in-gaza/

I could keep going. Because they've been VERY vocal about their desire and willingness to murder ALL Palestinians and force them out of their homelands. These are their OWN words and actions.

You're welcome to lie to yourself. But don't expect the rest of us to swallow your bullshit just because you want to speak with your head jammed up your ass.

Israel-Palestine conflict | Live updates | Today's latest from Al Jazeera

Israel’s war on Gaza has drastically reduced the amount of available water ‘creating a deadly health catastrophe’.

Al Jazeera
@ItsJenNotGoblin @QasimRashid Yes, it's Israels foult that the Hamas are hiding behind civilians. sure.
Your sources also speak for your agenda. 💩
As I said: EOD.
*plonk
@QasimRashid Now that Biden is a lame duck, he can suspend all US aid (the largest single item in the Israeli GDP) until Netanyahu steps down.
To re-enforce, call home our ambassador and send theirs home.
@QasimRashid
The candidate change, Biden —> Harris, is unleashing huge enthusiasm and energy and opening new possibilities and changes.
One of these changes MUST BE America stopping support to Israel’s brutal campaign of daily murder in Gaza and the West Bank. Not only could this win back a huge tranche of supporters for the Harris campaign, it’s the morally right thing to do.
@QasimRashid Yep. This has gone for too long. US needs to show leadership here https://traffic.libsyn.com/yinhistory/EP70-MiddleEastPeace.mp3

@QasimRashid

Interesting newsworthy developments. Will our media give them due coverage?

@QasimRashid Is there any source for this info?
@QasimRashid The US has no business rebuilding Palestine. It can give them money, building materials, whatever, but US colonialists rebuilding Palestine would look like Jared Kushner’s company building a bunch of crappy apartment buildings with US government money and treating Palestinian tenants even worse than he treats the tenants of his apartment complexes across the US.

@QasimRashid I think rebuilding Gaza is stupid unless it's part of a contiguous Palestine. That's not going to happen though and we'll just repeat this in a generation.

My personal solution? Radical partition: Everything north of the port of Haifa is given over to the Palestinians including most of the Golan Heights. Gaza and the West Bank become part of Israel. All the countries of the world help rebuild Palestine in this area. Gaza was little better than a ghetto. Rebuilding it is dumb.

@QasimRashid she will be meeting Netenyahu to tell him things, you say ? sounds like you're being played. she has no obligation to meet him. If she has anything to tell him she should say it publicly in the media.
Yes @slim @QasimRashid
So much funding was received... 😬
@QasimRashid Is this inside information or wishful thinking?

@QasimRashid @PatrickWirth we’d have to remove Hamas before we could rebuild anything. How would that work?

Honestly asking. What’s the plan for Hamas?

@QasimRashid US should employ Ukrainian policy with Israel. US will support Israel with all necessary military aid to defend itself from attacks by terrorist groups, such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and from nations, such as Iran and Syria, but nothing more. If we restrict Ukraine, we can restrict Israel. Russia is the bigger threat and our policy must change to help Ukraine defends itself from all attacks, including targeting sources of those attacks, no matter where they are in Russia. JMO.
