Dutch government announces that they'll make Mastodon available to all layers of the entire Dutch government, as a shared service of the government, starting in 2025!

The Mastodon pilot of the government celebrates their 1-year anniversary today, and as part of the evaluation they stated the Mastodon pilot "strengthens digital autonomy and [creates] a safe and reliable information supply".

And that is a great idea! Social media do not belong in the hands of big tech. We have seen where it went with facebook and twitter. Never should that happen again. Open source, regulated and available to everyone! That is the path forward.

➕ is that we as Dutch Mastodon users can yell at the government (government).

➖ is that the new Dutch government consists of one big fascist political 'party' (#PVV), a smaller agro-fascist party (#BBB), and two parties collaborating with fascists (#NSC and #VVD). Hopefully this government will not reach 2025.

@fediversereport The current government in the Netherlands is a coalition of right-extremist parties, just saying.
That alone might be enough to block them in some parts of sane fedi instead of partying hard for their joining.
