#POTUS #Biden speech at the #NAACP conference is great!

“I know what a Black job is. It’s the Vice President of the United States. I know what a Black job is. It’s the first Black President of the United States.”

More from #POTUS’ “Black jobs” arc re MVP #KamalaHarris:
“She’s not only a great vice president, she could be president of the United States!”

Other great #Biden lines:

“Truman said you want a friend in Washington, get a dog. Guess what? After the last couple of weeks, I know what he means.”

“Sandy Hook & Uvalde, concert goers in Las Vegas. You're going to be outspoken on one, don’t be silent on others.” #GunControl

#POTUS #Biden:

“Let me say this again, because #Trump is lying like hell about it. Black #unemployment hit a record low under the #BidenHarris administration”

“We’re going to end #medical #debt… I'm working with states to wipe out #MedicalDebt for pennies on the dollar.”

“I have been young, & now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken.”

James Carville just said on MSNBC that #POTUS #Biden’s donations have “dried up”

So I just donated $25

Listen ANYONE WHO DOES NOT WANT TO HAVE A 2ND #TRUMP PRESIDENCY:

Say whatever the hell you want about Biden’s age, but give me a viable alternative WHO CAN WIN.

Otherwise, STFU 💙 😬

#BidenHarris2024

@Nonilex

👍

My $100 monthly donation just went through on 7/12.

@cavalierbob yo, thank you so much. I myself, barely barely have a beer wallet (as opposed to the champagne wallet, as the old adage goes).

@Nonilex

If we all give what we can, we can and will make a difference. 👏🤝👊🏻💪🏻

@Nonilex me too...put in last week and yesterday.....we remain the majority of Americans, so I hope we all take up the cause and contribute & vote for saving America.

@Nonilex

"Lying like hell": Scranton Joe with the gloves off. President Biden lays a lick of truth on the Liar. You love to see it.

@Nonilex The donor class is genuinely worried Biden means it when he says they need to pay more taxes.

@tob

It's the big donors withholding their PAC contributions that Carville was talking about, but not because they're worried about tax rates.

They well understand that they will do very well with Democrats in control regardless of near term marginal tax rates and that Trump will likely screw everything up.

They are legitimately worried and think they know what is best for the Party and the country.

Are they right?

No one can possibly know. There are way too many variables.
@Nonilex

@joeinwynnewood @Nonilex do the rich have America's best interest in mind? Are they most connected to the body politic? These questions are just so hard to answer. /s

@tob

Depends on who you are talking about. Musk, Thiel and the like, certainly not.

The folks at https://patrioticmillionaires.org/ a firm yes.

Are there more of the former than the latter? Undoubtedly, but that doesn't negate the existence of the latter.

Whether or not the latter are correct in their policy preferences is another matter entirely. Yet again, the folks at https://patrioticmillionaires.org/ seem to be aligned with core progressive values.

@joeinwynnewood @tob @Nonilex I agree. The donor class is sending a message not about Biden's past acheivements, but his ability to win. We seem to fall into 2 camps these days. Those who pray he can win, and those (like myself) that think he is a weak candidate because of his declining health and believe the party has to take the risk to do something bold. His health is not going to get better and his unfavorables are high. I am being pragmatic. I think he shoul vstep aside. But I will vote for him in the general if he stays and prepare for the worst period in my lifetime.
@kwheaton @joeinwynnewood @tob as I see it, if we take a bleak view of Biden’s health, a vote for Biden is a vote for Kamala Harris which is aokay with me.

@Nonilex @kwheaton @joeinwynnewood @tob

I’ve always speculated that Biden would step down before his second term ended.
That’s how we would get our first female president. It’s a good scenario, not perfect but good.
But first we got to get him elected.
And for the record never a big fan of Adam Schiff, I’ll hold my nose and vote for him, but, blech.

@Crowjane @Nonilex @kwheaton @joeinwynnewood @tob It would give Harris a flying start for 2028. Sadly, the US is now a one-party state, and I want it to be this party unless and until the other one comes to its senses.

@kwheaton @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex I'm honestly curious how long you will keep this up.

As we get further away from the debate some things are becoming clear:

1) Biden is fine. His debate performance was a one-off event.

2) Polling is back to where it was before the debate. Tied.

3) The leaders of "Replace Biden" are centrists & moneyed elite who are consistently wrong about politics since forever.

4) Replace Biden doesn't want Harris either. (See 3)

@tob

There are a lot of people who are not in the cohort of your #3 who very much disagree with #1. Listen to Pod Save America's Monday pod. Those guys are neither centrist nor monied elite (they are political elite).

Also, let me know when the number of Democrats polled on whether or not Biden is too old to be an effective president for another term falls below 50%.

On #2 if you define "tied" as "within the margin of error", ...

@kwheaton @Nonilex

@tob

perhaps. 538's polling average is -1.8 compared to 6/27.

PS I'm a roiling agnostic on what the right course of action is. I just know we must win. There is no other option. And, there is no way to know if Harris or someone else would make winning more likely.

I could go into many of the factors/permutations (retired IT strategy consultant here...), but I won't, I do it enough in my head.

@kwheaton @Nonilex

@joeinwynnewood @kwheaton @Nonilex Pod Save are Obama guys. The definition of the centrist/money side of the party.

The problem for Replace is that we had a primary where real, physical people voted overwhelmingly for Biden. Now, you would throw some 14 million *actual votes* out in favor of random sampling polling?

When was the last time public polling firms asked this question after the primaries were decided? Never is the answer. The question is, at its core, undemocratic.

@joeinwynnewood @kwheaton @Nonilex Biden isn't dropping out, and the will of the Democratic primary voters must be respected.

As a practical matter, the Replace Biden movement has failed. This is the single biggest piece of information that shows that Biden is the best choice.

I understand some people doubting biden's fitness for this campaign. But there's no question he whooped the people who tried to replace him.

@tob

They're not Obama guys, they're political guys. As they said on that podcast, they love Biden and know lots of people currently working on his campaign. Moreover, by and large they're not policy guys, they're experienced political operatives. That's what they know and why their analysis is worth paying attention to.

Re: now you would...

Did you read all of my reply?
I never said I'd "do" anything.

I did question your polling evidence and cited salient contrary ...

evidence -
https://apnorc.org/projects/most-say-biden-should-withdraw-from-the-presidential-race/

And, you don't know that it's over. There's still conversations going on in the Senate & House caucuses and elsewhere.

It won't be over until we have a convention delegate confirmed nominee.

@kwheaton @Nonilex

Most say Biden should withdraw from the Presidential race - AP-NORC

Sixty-five percent of Democrats say President Biden should withdraw and allow his party to select a different nominee. There are growing misgivings about Biden’s mental capability to be an effective president.

AP-NORC -

@joeinwynnewood @kwheaton @Nonilex Did you read *my* reply? Show me the July 2012 polling for whether Obama should drop out of the race. The July 2004 polling on whether Bush should drop out.

There's no such polling. It's a nonsense poll. And it doesn't matter because it's not a public question.

What would be your reaction to a poll that asked if black people should be allowed to vote? Or a poll that asked if millions of illegal immigrants voted in the 2020 election?

@joeinwynnewood @kwheaton @Nonilex Would you correctly recognize that such a poll is in itself offensive and designed to drive the narrative (rather than to inform)? Or would you look at the results and go "Hmm. That's interesting!"

@tob

If I didn't have multiple folks talking to me about it unbidden, maybe I'd agree with you, but it's a real thing out there in the world.

Biden is 81. His ability to communicate effectively is not what it was (it was never great). He's going to get older. that's a fact.

People know what the stress of being president does. It's totally reasonable to be concerned about what a 2nd term will do to Biden and voters are definitely concerned.

@kwheaton @Nonilex

@joeinwynnewood @kwheaton @Nonilex Sigh. And voters were concerned about email security practices. And voters were concerned about Hunter's laptop. And voters were concerned about Obama's birth certificate.

I don't like playing this game where everyone pretends that they don't understand how the human brain maps general anxiety to concrete ideas. Gaslighting the fact that we are witnessing that process being used (again) to manipulate public opinion.

@tob @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex I am not basing my decision about Biden on anything but my own eyes and ears. I was disappointed he ran for re-election. I was upset there were no choices or debates in the primary. Had we seen him more....

I watched my Dad's progression with Parkinsons. I don't believe the WH denials. I can see with my own eyes. I don't think the media is sounding the alarm loud enough. Adam Schiff is not an alarmist---he's rather on the conservative side of Democrats.

I have seen every kind of maipulation on the keep Biden side. I have been calked a Russian bot and a fascist. Accused of disenfranchising those who voted for him in the primary--I did too. I have talked to a few dozen folks of different stripes since the debate. Only 1 is ridin with Biden. It will not get better after the convention. Democracy is more important than Biden's finishing the job he started. Alarmed at the interview when he made it about himself & not the country. Last time, right man at right time. Wrong man now.

@kwheaton @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex Who are you talking to? When Biden walks into the convention in August s the nominee, will your friends be "riding with Biden" then?

Or do you think they'll boo and hiss and complain about the process?

@tob

No, Democratic voters weren't concerned about any of those things.

You keep talking about gaslighting. Data is data. There's no gaslighting data. There's also no gaslighting pictures of before 8 years in the Oval Office and after.

If there's gaslighting going on, it's not coming from me.

My turn to mute.

@kwheaton @Nonilex

@tob @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex False comparisons will get you nowhere. Joe shoukdn't drip out bevause of polling. He should drop out because his health is failing and he has misrepresented his health. He released a letter from his doctor. He did not release his medical reports like Obama did. He is sadly behaving more like Trump in that regard.
@kwheaton @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex I don't really get this. You want me (and presumably other people) to take your word over Biden's and Biden's doctors based solely on your observations of Biden's recent TV appearances. Oh, and an unsubstantiated rumor started by the NY Post!
@tob @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex Nope. Just look up symptoms. Watch video of Biden 2 years ago, 1 year ago and now. Ask any neurologists you know or medical personel. ALL I have spoken with say they can't diagnose but they think he has Parkinsons. Not a one has offered another possible diagnosis. Thete is no simple test for PD diagnosis. So you can cleverly avoid diagnosing the obvious. Politicians (even those I love) lie and manipukate the facts. You wanna believe, its your right.

@kwheaton @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex If it's so obvious, why isn't there a simple test?

I do enjoy the idea of you running around asking random doctors to diagnose the President. I guess they're not the busy kinds of doctors. Or the kinds with "professional standards."

@tob @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex so you think Schumer is anti- democracy too? The people who are in his prescence know the truth. That is what the people who attended the LA fund raiser were saying. "JUST IN: Schumer Told Biden It Would Be Best to End Candidacy, ABC News Reports" It isn't that anyone wants to embarass Biden. They ate trying to save us from disaster
@tob @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex my Dad's doctor wrote in his file suspected PD but did not tell my Dad 5 years before he was officially diagnosed. One thing they use to clinch diagnosis is the Levdopa medication. If it improves symptoms you git your answer. Even Alzheimer's requires a brain biopsy. So there are lots of things without a simple test.
@kwheaton @joeinwynnewood @Nonilex 5 years, eh? Sheesh. I'm going to mute you now. Have a good life.

@kwheaton

Re: prepare for the worst

At times I can relate to that, but I'm going to fight like hell to make sure I don't have to.

Voting for whoever our nominee is is great.

Contributing (if you are able), volunteering, informing family, friend, neighbors and acquaintances about Project 2025, the prospect of 3 SCOTUS appointments by the next president, etc. is how we can win.

@tob @Nonilex

@Nonilex

I'm on an automatic donation monthly but since Carville doesn't know his ass from a hole in a ground I donated another 30 bucks tonight.

#bidenharis2020 !!

@Nonilex Have you seen Carville lately? Talk about "dried up."
@Nonilex I just did the same
@Nonilex Yeah, I've donated twice to Biden in the last six days.
@Nonilex He was talking about big corporate donors. You would need a groundswell of small donations like what Sanders got in 2016 and 2020 to make a difference. But thanks for your donation.
@Nonilex ....listen to the words.....he works for Americans. MAGA works against Americans.

@Nonilex President Joe Biden, honest at heart against a wall of Trump's deceiving lies.

You gotta love his reluctance, even honorable resistance to reply to traitorous assholism in the same currency.

The reluctance & resistance of a man leading U.S. administration to serve Americans, who's
not the man leading the U.S. admin to serve himself & do bad to the nation,
like what happened between Jan 20, 2017 & Jan 20, 2021, at the monstrous cost of more than 200,000 Americans avoidably dying, because the possibility of their mass deaths obviously overshadowed Trump's reelection chances.

P.S.: Not only Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment was written by real Republicans for insurrectionists like those conspiratoriously gathering & holding mendacious anti-American speeches in Milwaukee.

@Nonilex

just give me the unvarnished truth, please
