@w7voa
I'm ready for the #NYTimes editorial declaring the #RepublicanParty unfit.
They just said:
"It is a national tragedy that the Republicans have failed to have a similar debate about the manifest moral and temperamental unfitness of their standard-bearer, instead setting aside their longstanding values, closing ranks and choosing to overlook what those who worked most closely with the former president have described as his systematic dishonesty, corruption, cruelty and incompetence."
The Gift Link didn’t work for me, but from your quote it sounds like NYT managed to “both sides” it by working their howls for Biden’s disqualification into trying to shame republicans into ditching trump (I note they don’t address trump directly as they did Biden).
Don’t they know Repubs don’t do shame?
@bronakins @TCatInReality If your browser has reader mode, use it (firefox page looking thing in address bar). Disables all the crap sites use to bombard you with popups and adverts and banners and automatically playing jump out videos so you can just read the content. A lot of sites build their paywalls on the client side, meaning you have the text of the article you just have to turn off all the nonsense so it'll display. That's how stupid it all is.
Article unsurprising but a worthy read
As I said before, if they really believed their own editorial board, the front page every day should be about how awful Trump is. Since it is not, this editorial is just a head fake to keep Dems giving the Times the benefit of the doubt for a little bit longer.
The NYT is 100% Trump fascist now.
The Los Angeles Times Editorial Board echoes the same sentiment this very morning:
https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2024-07-11/la-trump-unfit-for-office-biden-election
NYT is bleeding readership..that's why the shift.
It’s unbelievable the nation is spending so much time questioning Biden’s verbal acuity, when the greatest concern ought to be his challenger is a self-aggrandizing felon and twice-impeached election-denier. Trump fomented the Jan. 6 insurrection, shows contempt for rule of law and shamelessly lies in pursuit of more power. He’s an authoritarian who admires murderous despots, wants to jail political enemies and has publicly flirted with declaring himself dictator his first day back.
This doesn't make up for the slow drip of poison normalising his candidacy.
Here’s my take (without reading as gift link doesn’t work for me & I probably won’t see it elsewhere since so many ditched NYT).
This is rich— the NYT could and should have been written well before the debate—like when trump announced for 2024. It’s like in sports after the refs totally blow a call that changes the course of the game, they try to do a “make-up” call … https://journa.host/@w7voa/112767732373902027
@w7voa looks a bit suss after everybody wailed on the NYT for not mentioning this until we all kicked off.
but sure, you've fooled us again haven't you NYT, you're so clever.......

NYT has now matched its scold to Biden about what he "should" do and order to Democrats about what they "must" say with an op-ed on Trump, observing that he "is" unfit to lead with no more than an urgent call on voters to do something about it. Would that NYT would match that opinion with equal parts reporting on why Trump is unfit.
I'm still not going to look at the #NewYorkTimes until after the election, and maybe not even then.
They want to look "Fair and Balanced"
Wow! It is almost like they woke up and noticed people unsubscribing or something.
Or, maybe they noticed the negative press coverage here calling them out.
Do not fall for it, they will contnue to spew nonsense.
@w7voa 💯 💯 💯
It's about time they started stating the obvious.
