@dgar
I just paid extra to have a phone with 265GB. I know it's a scam (SD cards are gigantic and practically free now? Who's gonna pay for a cloud subscription? Just remove the slot!).
But not using clouds outside my job means a lot to me.
If they ever hack my cloud, it's just a lot of photos of spines, livers, and very, very gross closeups of skin diseases. Be my guest.

(EDITS: Fat fingers hitting send on accident all the time)
@Soulshine
A reminder that cool phones like @Fairphone still have an SD card slot in even their latest #Fairphone 5 model. #fp5
@dgar
@Soulshine @dgar Are there any modern phones which have SD card slots?
@donkeyblam @Soulshine @dgar Samsung phones still sometimes have them! Mine (Galaxy S20 FE 5G) still has one, for example.
@chiraag @donkeyblam @dgar
S20 was the last to have that.
@chiraag @donkeyblam @dgar Yeah, and they've disabled installing apps on SD cards around when, the S10?
@Soulshine @donkeyblam @dgar I hadn't even noticed b/c internal storage increased enough that I don't even care anymore welp
@donkeyblam @Soulshine @dgar
My moto G7 does, it goes in the same slot thingy as the sim card
@donkeyblam @Soulshine @dgar They're getting harder and harder to find and the sad thing is it's kind of pointless on Android because the last time I tried it won't let you install basically any apps to the microSD card any more, so the only thing you can put on there is personal files and music.

Oh, definitely. People mentioned fairphone and I think the Samsung budget line (A-series) still does. But after getting my first cellphone at 18 and never paying over 300€ for one, this was the first time I've wanted to buy an expensive phone (Pixel 8 Pro) bc I want to use its camera for promo videos for my band and my practice. A friend who sometimes tapes our gigs with real video equipment recently used his Pixel instead and I was super impressed with its capabilities.

@donkeyblam @Soulshine @dgar Sony’s Xperia has them, and even has a mother grabbing headphone Jack.
@donkeyblam @Soulshine @dgar I ordered a batch of new Samsung phones for my workplace. (A55 5G) and they still have SD slots. Pretty durables phones too, and if you get them off-network most of the samsung bloatware can be uninstalled which is decent. They are completely unrepairable though. If you can afford a Fairphone, then I'd hands down, absolutely go for that first and foremost. Sadly, we're locked into state govt procurement in my workplace and can't go to our own vendors directly, so we're stuck with a handful of big brands, as otherwise I'd definitely speak to my boss abt migrating our org to them.

@Syulang @donkeyblam @dgar

My last phone was an A35 but I have concrete plans for the Pixel 8 Pro's top notch video recording performance and the budget line does not deliver that.
I've never owned an expensive phone before but it really depends on what you use it for.
