#Vote

In the 2024 Presidential race, I will vote for:

Kennedy
3.6%
Trump
1.6%
Biden
94.8%
Poll ended at .

@Leefromphilly @[email protected] I am not an American, but my wife is. I would vote for Biden, but didn’t want to skew your poll.

I do have to say I am worried about Biden’s age, but at least he will be surrounded by decent people to help run the country. The others would just be a nightmare.

@bazcurtis @lymond Thank you for your honest reply. We know that probably the most crucial thing in running a country is management. We saw what #Trump brought to the table in this respect. (I use that term loosely.) Guys like Bannon, headed for prison finally, & Mnuchin, & many others who have since come forward and told us how bad it really was, like John Kelly, in October 2023 – our attention spans are shamefully short! – who told us how Trump derided our veterans
@Leefromphilly I see you have 5 % that need a mental health evaluation!!

@Leefromphilly

You must be from the DNC. 😆

@Leefromphilly These polls are NEVER statistically valid.
Never.

@petergleick @Leefromphilly

Yeah I was gonna say this.

The only way to get a statistically accurate view from polling Mastodon would be:

1. if you are also running the exact same poll through other polling methods; and
2. there is enough precedent of similar polls being run through Mastodon within similar audience groups for you to be able to reliably predict the statistical bias of polls run that way

Meeting point 2 is probably impossible.

@petergleick @Leefromphilly Exactly. As in any internet poll, the respondents are a voluntary response sample, guaranteed to give biased results.

@Leefromphilly

Note that no self-selected sample of the population will result in a statistically-relevant level of correctness in the results.

Particularly not when you lack any demographic information for the respondents and therefore can't correct for sampling biases.

Sorry to #piss on your #parade, just don't want people without a grasp of #statistics and #polling to think your results are in any way accurate or predictive.

@Leefromphilly I imagine most Trump voters on the Fediverse would end up on instances that most other instances defederate from

@poppamunz @Leefromphilly
"Trump voters on the Fediverse would end up on instances that most other instances defederate from."
... I guess a POSSIBLE way to 'balance' this is by overcounting any vote from a blocklist that cites 'hate' as a block reason:
https://github.com/gardenfence/blocklist/blob/main/gardenfence-mastodon.csv

.... But that's way way too easy to devolve into corporate media's "bOtH sIdEs" narrative by oversampling the asshole brigade.

@Leefromphilly This should probably have “none of the above,” “Chace Oliver” and “green party” (since I don’t think they’ve picked an nominee yet)
@Leefromphilly No amount of boosting can make this sort of internet 'poll' statistically relevant.
@Leefromphilly So 5% of fediversians are stupid and/or evil. Gosh, I wish that the overall electorate were similarly composed.

@Leefromphilly lol @ this filtering of options.

Not voting for Biden. I'm in Oregon where it's not tactically necessary due to the electoral college. And I sure wouldn't vote for him out of any sort of loyalty.

@Leefromphilly What even are Trump voters doing in this space
@Leefromphilly "statistically relevant" isn't a thing.

@Leefromphilly

None. Won't vote for any Democratic if Biden is the nominee. Too much misconduct vis-a-vis ineffectual Covid-19 response and encouragement of greedflation. Doubts about him being of sound mind.

Montana voter. Voted for Tester in 2018. He won't get my down ballot vote if Biden is the nominee.

@siderea

@Leefromphilly

Your sample may be large, but it is unlikely to be representative of the voting pool.

But, yeah, Biden.

@Leefromphilly
I won't vote because I'm not eligible to vote in the US elections
