This pains me no end after a lifetime of subscribing, but the @nytimes has lost its way at a time when the need for exemplary journalism is at its greatest.
@petergleick All NYT did was asking for a candidate with an above zero chance to defeat Trump and stop him from destroying US democracy. You are shooting the messenger here.

@christianschwaegerl @petergleick

NYT has had a consistent oligarch propaganda narrative for years, and they not only don't apologize for it they double down every time they're called it.

They cheerled on iraq BS and led on bullshit about WMDs.

They kept front-paging obvious conservative bullshit about Hillary.

They won't shut up about rural conservatives but they won't talk to people of color about who THEY support.

They're oligarch propaganda.

@qkslvrwolf @petergleick Who are the "oligarchs" in the Biden case supposed to be? Not the millions of Democratic supporters who, like the Editorial Board, are desperate about the candidate’s slim chances after his recent performance? The NYT board clearly wants Trump defeated. The paper has reported extensively on the dangers he presents. They gave Biden the benefit of the doubt until the debate, but it would be irresponsible for such a board if they kept quiet and watched Trump win.

@christianschwaegerl sure doesn't seen like they want trump beat to me, just like they didn't with "but her emails".

The narrative they push is told by what they repeat over and over.

And the oligarchs are every fucking billionaire on the planet, starting with the Saudis, the Russians, the mercers, koch, musk, and thirl.

The nyt owners wanna be part of the club.

@qkslvrwolf There’s a lot to criticise about past reporting decisions. But the way you describe it sounds like a mirror of Maga conspiracy myths.
@christianschwaegerl and the way you gloss over the repeated, extremely important, and intentional leadership of the nyt in misleading the country sounds like magat cultishness.
@qkslvrwolf Imho misleading here comes from Team Biden which pretended it‘s all fine and there‘s no need for a younger candidate.

@christianschwaegerl which is 100% true, it IS all fine.

Biden is the best president of my life and it's not even close. I do not give a fuck about his age.

I was a Warren man and was sick when Biden got the nod, but he has shown up and been great.

Granted, best president starting with Reagan's a low bar but Biden has raised it substantially.

@qkslvrwolf Sure, but Biden throws away the legacy of his lifetime in fall when his stubborn candidacy will have rolled out the red carpet for the Trump autocracy.
@christianschwaegerl 🙄 what pure, unadulterated bullshit. Get over yourself.
@qkslvrwolf I hand the mic to Thomas Friedman, a *personal friend* of Biden:
“If that is the best performance they could summon from him, he should preserve his dignity and leave the stage at the end of this term.
If he does, everyday Americans will hail Joe Biden for doing what Trump would never do: put the country before himself.
If he insists on running and he loses to Trump, Biden and his family — and his staff and party members who enabled him — will not be able to show their faces.”

@christianschwaegerl ah yes, the great mind who gave us the Friedman unit in his endless Iraq war cheerleading. Truly, a telling blow. 🙄

Like literally the opposite of anything Friedman says is the best bet.
