Chances of my pedals being delivered tomorrow? Place your bets please! #unlikely #cycling
Amazingly, they just arrived! Time to work out how everything goes together! #cycling #shimano #spd #clipless
Cleats on the shoes, hopefully in the right place back/forth - I attempted the masking tape and feeling for your metatarsals approach but it could be wrong. Need to work out any twist now. πŸ€”
I think there’s enough β€œfloat” in these not to worry too much about the angle/twist. They come out of the cleat fairly easily too (I started off loose, and have tightened a little)
Hot melt glue applied for @kim πŸ˜‰
Just noticed how scratched up the soles are after a few minutes practicing. I hope they don’t turn out to be made of cheese!
@jmb If they do turn out to be cheese, you could fit some of these: https://www.crankbrothers.com/products/shoe-shields

(It's just a thin sheet of stainless steel that fits behind the cleat.)

I'm using them to prevent ATAC pedals (which have a smaller area in contact with the sole) digging a hole in my shoes in a way that SPD pedals never did.

@jmb Those shoes look decent. Quick question: do they have much of an arch? My feet are dead flat and don't play well with arches...
@vandenberglegs They’re an older range from Decathlon - they only have two sizes left online a 42 (UK 8) and a 43 (UK 8.5). I have flatish feet and used use arch supports. These seem quite comfortable and supportive for me but I haven’t used them in anger yet. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/road-and-gravel-cycling-leather-lace-up-spd-shoes-grvl-520-black/_/R-p-192017
Road and Gravel Cycling Leather Lace-Up SPD Shoes GRVL 520 - Black TRIBAN | Decathlon

These SPD road bike shoes combine pedalling efficiency with comfort. The laces and buckle help you get the right fit. The sole is designed for both…

@jmb yeah, I'm in Australia, I need a 43 and they don't have that size here. Oh well.
@vandenberglegs Just check your sizing as they come up large - I’m normally an 8.5/9 in UK sizes which would be a 43/44 but the 42 is just fine. In fact when I measured my foot it reckoned I was a 41!
