Just installed a new 9-speed Shimano chain on a 9-speed Shimano drivetrain. What could go wrong?

The chain feels wider than it should be, and jumps off the gears. The reason?

“In Shimano’s CUES series, the “LINKGLIDE” shifting system is used; however, the chains are compatible with the HYPERGLIDE system’s “HG-X 11-speed chains.”

“CUES sprockets are not compatible with drivetrain components made for the HYPERGLIDE”

So, buy 11-speed chains (that wear out faster) for your 9-speed system. Brilliant 🙄

One more reason to hate derailleurs for me, that's for sure. You know what's never wrong? a 1s chain on my gear hub.

@rower Mostek, który wymontowałem z nowego roweru, żeby założyć 2 centymetry krótszy i amortyzowany, wsadziłem dzisiaj do starej maszyny, bo w niej miałem dla mnie za długi.

Musiałem do tego dołożyć adapter pozwalający założyć mostek 1 1/4 na rurę 1 1/8, ale wszystko ładnie się zgrało. Dzięki skróceniu mostka mogłem cofnąć nieco siodło, które jakiś czas temu przesunąłem do przodu, żeby skrócić reach, a dzięki danym z bike-sizingu przed zakupem nowego roweru mogłem poprawić także wysokość siodła.

Po tym wszystkim wziąłem go na godzinne kręcenie i muszę powiedzieć, że siedzi się na nim wyraźnie lepiej.

Przy okazji odkryłem, że o ile przesiadając się na Canyona odczułem różnicę w komforcie, jaką dają nowe podzespoły, to jednak jak duża jest, uświadomiłem sobie dopiero dzisiaj, gdy złapałem po przerwie za twarde i chude chwyty Sora, z ich wąskimi dźwigniami, które tak daleko trzeba wychylać. Podobnie z hamulcami – czułem, że są dużo lepsze, ale rozmiar przepaści między nowymi a starymi uświadomiła mi dzisiejsza próba wyhamowania na dość stromym zjeździe.

I tak Ridley ciągle jest fajną maszyną i zostawiam go sobie do jeżdżenia, gdy pogoda będzie taka, że żal mi będzie wystawić z domu Canyona. Chociaż kusi mnie też, żeby na lato założyć mu slicki i czasem robić czysto asfaltowe trasy.

Pédale automatique SPD : je viens de découvrir au détour d'une vidéo sur la nouvelle cale de #shimano que la cale qui me convient le mieux n'est pas la SH56 qui me semblait faire plus de chose, mais la bonne vieille SH51 plus simple.

En fait, la SH56 permet de déclipser de plusieurs façon et ça explique pourquoi parfois je déclipse en tirant fort sur les pédales (grosse montée par exemple). C'est pas (seulement) moi qui tire comme un bourrin 😅 ...

Een leuk product waar ik nog nooit van had gehoord: De Shimano Nexave.
Jammer dat het niet succesvol in de markt bleek te zijn. Te veel in een niche, denk ik.
De gebruiker heeft reuma in de handen en kan toch schakelen. Hoe koel is dat?

Gestern mal wieder was ganz besonderes in der #Fahrrad​werkstatt beim #Reparaturcafé gehabt:

Jemand hatte einen Kleinenanzeigenfund dabei mit einem #Shimano Schaltkraftverstärker.

Genauso hab ich auch geguckt. Das Ding macht das kraftaufwändige Front-Umwerfen zu einem butterweichen Fingertippen. Ganz mechanisch, die Kurbel macht die Hebelarbeit! Genial und ideal, weil er #Rheuma hat.

Nexave FD-C505 von ~2004, hat sich leider 0 durchgesetzt. Bisschen fummelig einzustellen, aber hat geklappt 👌
