Do you happen to have any recommendation on routers? I'm looking for one for about 50€, if possible
@captainepoch I'd look for one that supports Open-WRT

@critical @captainepoch some TP-Link should do that, tho if you're in the #EU you can,thank @EUCommission for killing #OpenWRT support with absurd #Firmware lockdowns.

Personally I'd recommend to #DIY something with #pfSense and seperate #WiFi and #Routing...

  • You may be able to snipe some cheap old Atom/Celeron machine that is #64bit, supports #AESni and has at least two NICs for under €50...
@kkarhan @captainepoch @EUCommission wtf? Why did the EU block open source software? Wasn't the whole idea to have interoperability and user choice?!
@critical @EUCommission @kkarhan It didn't block open source, but it wants to block the posibility of you being able to flash third-party software (firmware, kernels...) into any device.
@captainepoch @critical @EUCommission @kkarhan for what reason though?

oh, let me guess, because of MUH SECURITY?
@a1ba @critical @EUCommission @kkarhan That is exactly the reason.
@captainepoch @critical @EUCommission @kkarhan it's always that or "think of the kids" nonsense.

Or sometimes both.
@a1ba @critical @EUCommission @kkarhan This is what happens when lobbying is allowed, instead of listening to actual people working in the field...
AFAIK lobbying in EU isn't allowed
@kkarhan @critical @captainepoch @EUCommission I thought #EU was known for helping the consumer
@lamp @critical @EUCommission @kkarhan We can still flash OpenWRT in the supported devices, I think.

And yes, the EU was known for that. Now it's known for not defend its own citizens.
