Watching “The Hunt for Red October” (1990) with a first-timer.
Here’s the fun thing about watching this movie with a first-timer who knows nothing about Sean Connery’s film career — for the first half of the movie Ramius seems like a Soviet madman who might be going rogue.
FUCK this movie is good
“The Hunt for Red October” has a lot of examples of lines of dialogue that were most likely added in post production, spoken by offscreen characters, to help the audience understand the basics of the plot.

@tvaziri There are a few of those instances I find annoying because they really don’t trust the audience.

The worst is when Dallas first hears the Red October, and Jones says “We could have caught a boomer coming out of the barn”, and then obviously looped in is “May be a missile boat coming out of Polyarny”, which is saying the same damned thing! Just use one or the other. If you want to use military lingo, don’t then immediately repeat its meaning.
