The #AustralianOlympicTrials have commenced (day 1 is already over, at the source).
@[email protected] has put out his final message prior to his events on Wednesday, Thursday, & Saturday.
Will post & describe his oft-seen image from the pool, along with his thoughts.
Also adding in two of my #VisionsOfCody from 2019 & 2021 that are relevant.
(saw #CanadianOlympicTeam Joshua Liendo's promo photos in the grocery store a bit earlier, so it's a sign I need to post about Codes, now). All the best, Codes!
Only about 12 hours until the #AustralianOlympicTrials 100m fly heats are set to begin. It all comes down to that moment for @[email protected] . The 12 year old within him (which remains alive) has been waiting for this day to come. My vision of his younger self seeing the Olympic Flame go by took place exactly 3 years ago to the date of his BIG race to make it to #Paris2024 . As they say before a Broadway play: "break a leg." #swimming
The hour for @[email protected] 's efforts over the past four years is upon us. His heat in the 100 fly will take place in the next half hour. I've been feeling the anticipation throughout the day, here, today at various times -- and definitely right now. #AustralianOlympicTrials
Alright.... @[email protected] clocked a fifty-one point seven eight... good enough for fifth in the one hundred fly #AustralianOlympicTrials A final early this morning, here, and mid-evening, there. Solid point six reaction time, too. Looks like Kyle Chalmers pulled out of it, so that makes things rather interesting.
It all comes down to the next race for Codes... That twelve year old inside him can't wait to see what happens in a little over seven hours from now. The QT is 51.17....
Results of the #AustralianOlympicTrials 100 fly A final are in: looks like it was a tough one for all whom took part. The water & vibe around it seems to have been less conducive for quick times. @[email protected] touched the final wall of this four year journey in 51.79. Matt, alone, qualified, by the skin of his teeth (2 hundredths of a sec to spare).
I'm proud Codes saw this through to today -- it's been quite the ride. Time to let him unwind & decompress from it all. Love you, mate.

Here's the video of it:

Amazing how long the interval seems to feel between a world record time, and fractions to one or two seconds longer than that. This is coming from my virtual spectator position, half a world away. Imagine what it's like as the athlete in the pool itself.
I'm a little surprised Codes didn't buzz the hair off. Maybe he's planning to really let it grow now...

Don't forget: #TheSeaInMe 's official release is on Tuesday, the 18th.
