It happened almost by accident…the kind… #LeonardLeo intended to happen at #FederalistSociety’s annual conference — a 3 day gathering of the #conservative tribe & strategy session for #RightWing #lawyers, ofcls & #judges….
9 days after #Trump won the 2016 election, …the Mayflower Hotel, blocks from the WH,…[was] abuzz w/the possibilities of a future that changed overnight. #HillaryClinton, the woman the anti- #abortion movement feared more than perhaps anyone, failed to win…. And #LeonardLeo & the #conservative #legal movement that he worked for yrs to create were about to reclaim #power. With that power would come the chance to do what seemed unthinkable until this moment: strategize to take down #RoeVWade.
@Nonilex one ray of hope for me is the example the "success" of the Reagan co-option of the Christian Evangelicals gives to young people (and not so young). Reagan and the Republican Party wanted power. They found some people who were passionate about a cause (Jesus but later morphed into pregnancy as punishment for sex). They organized and achieved their goals by dogged continuous and delayed gratification.
