Wife’s away, time to run some fiber…
Success… Well at least got one cable, now I need to wait for some Amazon orders.
@paul Amazon always delivers the stuff I need urgently a day late. The stuff I don't care about comes at 4am.
@paul going 10-gig on the LAN?
What feels like 1 month later.
@paul ah yes googly eyes on our patch ports!
@paul Ooh, fibre, fancy!
@paul Is that the Omada kit? Single-toot review please 😁
@richardstocks been working fine, wish they had some affordable 6GHz and/or WiFi 7 options.
@paul Good to know, thanks. If I want to move to wifi 7 I’m going to have to replace all my network gear to support 2.5g, so looking for options that might be more cost effective than just upgrading the UniFi kit.
@richardstocks UniFi has all the bits I'd want but so much $$$$$.
@paul The reality is the stuff I have is fine, and the limiting factor is my rural broadband, so there’s really no point in upgrading anything other than I want shiny new things 🤣
@paul will your wife find out? 😏
@paul is that an AP mounted in a wall socket hole or is it just so flush with the plate that it looks that way?
@fichek correct, AP in a wall plate.
@paul Nice! What Cat6 keystone jacks did you install?
@paul not pictured: blood, sweat and curse words.
@paul this is the start of a disaster comedy flick.
@paul first I’ve heard that euphemism :)
@paul Diablo! This should be fun. Love the recip saw.
@paul would love more details on this project…
@paul Did you terminate fiber yourself, and if so what technique / tools did you use? I’ve run fiber too but was too chicken to terminate so I made big holes.
@wavefront just bought pre-terminated cables that are about the right length.
