Cooler Master's new "AI thermal paste"—proof that marketing gimmicks know no bounds. 😂After all, why not?
Why shouldn't I slap"AI" onto everything if it makes people buy it?
@nixCraft 0,1K better performance than Arctic MX-6 in torturetests with only 4 times the price!
@nixCraft diamonds? Oh yes, diamonds, renowned for their thermal conductivity and definitely not their hardness. Thermal conductivity! Which is why they’re in that heat paste. It’s definitely not to make it sound expensive so they can charge more. Really.
EDIT: Turns out diamond is crazy thermally conductive. Still sounds stupid. I apologize for nothing.
@BoscoZebra @nixCraft Also, ‘shine on you crazy thermal paste’ is never going to go anywhere
@nixCraft Mark my words, five years from now we’re getting microwave ovens with an AI that will stop the heating cycle once the timer reaches 00:00
@nixCraft Hope they get sued for false advertising.

@nixCraft

What's AI about this? Does chatGPT in that thermal paste.

@nixCraft
What's their customer contact number? I think my thermal paste is hallucinating.
@nixCraft They did that with "turbo" long ago.

@nixCraft I feel like the conversation went:

Management: “You can’t just slap “quantum” on everything!”

Marketing: “Fine! 😤”

@nixCraft nono you don't understand the thermalpaste is sentient and is going to crawl out of your PC at night to set off temperature alerts but then creeps back in place when you go check what the hell is going on with the cooling

@nixCraft I admit, I feel like they only put the "AI" keyword just so it can pull attention away from anything more relevant. Unfortunately, this says a lot about talking about tech; good or bad, people will only talk about it if it's "trendy"

(Will it beat MX-6, though? Given the color gimmick, I doubt it, admittedly. Even if I do appreciate that more colorful technology is kind of making a comeback.)
