If you already play Lex.Games on the web and are wondering just what the heck Letter Opener is...

That one is exclusive to iOS for now. And is free for all!

You get a handful of letters as an "opener." You have 90 seconds to find as many words as you can, and the longer the words, the more points they're worth!

Oh, did I mention that the game has a mellow (mutable) soundtrack? It sure does! And the win jingle when you solve a puzzle — like Lexicogs — is worth the price of admission.

(Worth noting: The price of admission is: free. But people tell me they like the jingle!)

It's possible I'm Six Appeal's biggest fan. But maybe you'll join me.

(I like it because it's a puzzle I get to play too — I don't know what the words are ahead of time!)

Six Appeal is Wordle meets Mastermind. Six-letter Wordle-style puzzles, with the caveat that you're not required to use real words. (But real words are worth more points!)

@lexfri I am also a fan of Six Appeal, but it seems like it occasionally changes words mid-game.

(Also, on my iPhone 15 non-Max, the keyboard is too big for the screen. Several keys get clipped, and the P key is only visible at all in landscape.)

@lexfri Thanks! Here you go. BTW, I use adaptive text, usually above 100%. Setting it lower made the letters smaller, but not the keys/boxes.

@lexfri I’ve only seen it on rando, but it isn’t common. I wouldn’t have necessarily expected it to show up in the daily game at this point.

Mind Control, like the endless "Rando" versions of Letter Opener and Six Appeal, is limited to paying subscribers. You can subscribe on the web or in the app.

Subscribers also get the ability to appear on the leaderboards, and play a full-size daily crossword puzzle on the web (or in the amazing Black Ink app from @danielpunkass).

@lexfri I’m running into an issue where Mind Control doesn’t put me on the leaderboard or remembers that I’ve solved it, even though it shows the checkmark that I did. When I open it again, it opens from scratch but still doesn’t save my state if I solve it again. Everything looks and feels really good though! Great job!

@lexfri Hey there - I’m finding that in BAV in the app, when the keyboard opens that pushes the header up into the reserved area at the top where it overlaps the clock etc, so none of the buttons work. (iPhone 13, iOS 17.5)

@lexfri is there a way to force”light mode”? Purple on black and the grey squares are *really* hard for me to read.

I tried “high contrast” mode but it seems to have no effect?

@lexfri Hi Lex! Our family plays some of your games every night. We have a lot of fun with them. But my kids (10yo and 12yo) are outraged because you mixed Roman and Greek gods in the Mini Crossword today (#453).
