i cant login to discord because they forgot to add the 0 key to the numpad
@lexd0g You have to use an on-screen numpad to type the 2FA code? Never seen that before.
@Quinn9282 how else would you
@lexd0g @Quinn9282 i usually copy and paste
@kib48 @Quinn9282 i have my authenticator on my phone and watch, i was just typing it off my watch
@kib48 @lexd0g @Quinn9282 try kde connect to sync your clipboard, works like charm on LAN
@CodingThunder @kib48 @Quinn9282 hate that it's manual on android, i just use phone link between my phone and pcs, way more reliable
@lexd0g @CodingThunder @Quinn9282 isn't that manual too
@kib48 @CodingThunder @Quinn9282 not if it's installed as a system app, it just works automatically
@lexd0g @CodingThunder @Quinn9282 oh
but if you're not on an MS partner's phone then you need root for that
@kib48 @CodingThunder @Quinn9282 yeah i run paranoidandroid on my phone and it comes pre installed as system which is really cool
@lexd0g @kib48 @Quinn9282 I am quite out of touch with Windows ways of doing things since a while now. So have no idea of how well it works
@CodingThunder @lexd0g @Quinn9282 I'm pretty much all in on google stuff
wish Quick Share (formerly Nearby Share) had an official linux client

@rafal06 @CodingThunder @lexd0g @Quinn9282 that one is really cool and I've used it but it can only share things from my phone to my pc for now, not the other way around
@lexd0g i guess you have to wait for it to roll a code with no 0
@CauseOfBSOD i actually just closed discord and opened it again and the 0 showed up but that was my plan yeah
@lexd0g @CauseOfBSOD that somehow makes it worseโ€ฆ Why is the behavior of something as simple as "displaying a keypad" not deterministicโ€ฝ
@forgetful_bri @lexd0g how did they fuck up a software keyboard this badly
@CauseOfBSOD @lexd0g it's honestly impressive.
Is every button somehow being asynchronously created?
Can any button fail to load?
Will the interface flex as needed to make any number of missing buttons look natural?
Can the "submit" button fail to load???
@forgetful_bri @lexd0g i reckon they just made a keyboard without the 0, realised their mistake, fixed it, but left both versions in prod

and when they load its a race condition as to which is loaded
@CauseOfBSOD @lexd0g that makes a lot more sense. Still raises questions, but it's definitely more likely.
@forgetful_bri @lexd0g tbh i have absolutely no idea whether or not this is the case, but it is the most sensible explanation that i could come up with
@CauseOfBSOD @lexd0g @forgetful_bri honestly, based on the exclusion of the "/" (division) as well, makes this one wonder if there is a lower row that isnt being shown?
@steeps @CauseOfBSOD @lexd0g hmmmm! Maybe an issue with display size? (I have no idea how VR works)

@forgetful_bri @CauseOfBSOD @lexd0g as a regular idiot who recently wrote a software keyboard, yeah I could see them init'ing each button in parallel and if a task happens to fail, it just silently eats the exception

It's how I'd build a prototype proof of concept, it's not something I'd ever ship

@lexd0g @CauseOfBSOD where in the numpad did they put it?
@lexd0g finding the zero is the quest
@lexd0g I can't use discord on my quest 2 because the screen is cut off on the side and if you scroll it won't let you click send.
@RedCyberPandaz yeah i ran into that issue when i managed to log in, i installed bunny which seems to be able to load the new ui and mostly works? the only fucked up thing is the image viewer
@lexd0g @RedCyberPandaz Bunny whatโ€™s that?

@lexd0g truly the metaversal future we desire
@lexd0g Please understand, a zero button in addition to all the others would've looked displeasing to the designer's sensitive eyes so it had to go
@lexd0g what the fuck

maybe wait for a code that doesn't have a 0?
@lexd0g I've deleted my Discord today
@lexd0g i'll be honest that's a very discord thing to do
@lexd0g what platform are you using? If you want I can share this with my partner who works there, but I donโ€™t recognize the interface.
@Haste meta horizon os on a meta quest 3, it was a bug in the os' keyboard and its just the android app sideloaded, i dont think discord supports it officially even if it was their fault. thanks for trying to help tho
@lexd0g 53% probability of never having to use the zero digit. I dont think this was tested more than once :)
@lexd0g the children are safe for a moment at least
@lexd0g classic discord moment
@kaleidox this is not a discord bug that's the os' on screen keyboard
@lexd0g This is a nice example of "go fast and break things" for textbooks.
Someone did not have to type a numeric pin for a while with all these touchless auth approaches..
@lexd0g welcome to your future in the metaverse

@lexd0g
Technically you can use your phone to input the 0, there is a "use my phone as keyboard" mode somewhere in the quest app.

But yeah, stupid that that can even happen...

@marlowe oh i didn't even know that was a thing that's a super cool feature
