A UX fail I get annoyed with is a product deciding a text is too long, showing "Read more", only to reveal that the text would have comfortably fit. Today I saw an egregious example in Whatsapp.
Now I know Hanlon's razor tells me that this isn't intentional, but due to the incompetence of the developers.
But is it?
Is it really more likely that the front end developers of a trillion dollar company can't get this right than that someone intentionally "improved" engagement metrics?
