@Siucraym @itsfoss I wouldn't. Newcomers would see websites not working and may not blame them on Firefox, but on Linux in general (because almost every distro preinstalls it). And i have other issues with Firefox to the point I cannot use it. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Firefox until these issues are fixed.

@Siucraym @itsfoss @cameronbosch

I would suggest Floorp instead of Firefox. Cameron, what issues do you have with Firefox? I've been using fork of Floorp called FireDragon (Garuda's spin) and I don't have any issues.

@backtoanalog @Siucraym @itsfoss Isn't Floorp not FOSS though? (I do use a non FOSS browser, but only because I cannot find any better alternative.) Firefox is missing PWA support (they actually are now the ONLY browser to lack this feature and pulled it), are not run well, almost killing off Thunderbird, the general lack of direction with Firefox, controversial decisions that they feebley try to defend but fail, and many more issues.

@cameronbosch @backtoanalog @Siucraym @itsfoss Floorp is actually open source, it’s based on FF after all so uses the Mozilla license.

@orbitalmartian @backtoanalog @Siucraym @itsfoss Just because something uses a copyleft base doesn't always mean the entire resulting product is copyleft or FOSS. For example, both the LGPL and MPL allow for use in propietary code bases as long as the LGPL/MPL parts remain accessible and comply with the terms of the license.
@orbitalmartian @backtoanalog @Siucraym @itsfoss Interesting, because I had heard that Floorp wasn't under the MPL...

@orbitalmartian @Siucraym @itsfoss @cameronbosch

If you read Floorp licensing info, it says MPL 2.0.

Try contacting developer with your PWA issues. That feedback will be important to them. Maybe they'll be able to help.

If Firefox and forks don't work for you, you can use Brave (It is a nice Chromium alternative).

@backtoanalog @orbitalmartian @Siucraym @itsfoss I tried Brave. Too much crypto crap in the browser and other shady things for my liking.

I am using a Chromium non FOSS browser @Vivaldi mainly because it's the best option given my circumstances.

@cameronbosch @backtoanalog @Siucraym @itsfoss @Vivaldi Vivaldi is great, I always forget it’s not FOSS. It’s amazing.
@orbitalmartian @backtoanalog @Siucraym @itsfoss @Vivaldi Same here. I know why they didn't open source the UI (the part that isn't FOSS), but I still really like it.

@backtoanalog @orbitalmartian @Siucraym @itsfoss And there was serious backlash when Firefox removed the feature. Did they care? Of course not. That's the attitude that caused me to leave.

Firefox 85 is Here, But Mozilla is Killing PWA Features

Mozilla released Firefox 85 this week, adding protections against so-called supercookies. But it’s also taking a major step back from PWAs.

@backtoanalog @Siucraym @itsfoss @cameronbosch Or Thorium or my personal favourite and which I use on all my devices, Vivaldi.
@cameronbosch @Siucraym @itsfoss If it wasn't Foss, Garuda wouldn't have been able to fork it. There is an extension (plugin) called Progressive web apps for firefox that will help you with your needs.

@backtoanalog @Siucraym @itsfoss True on the forking of Floorp.

I'm more shocked Mozilla still refuses to add back PWA support. That is a deal breaker for me, hard stop. Also, the plugin straight up didn't work when I tried Librewolf. And I tried for almost 12 hours to get it to work without success. Won't be moving back unless they add it back.

Also, an extension like that can't be any good if it's not in the browser natively. Why hasn't any fork added the code back?
