Total Recall

(Screenshot from ‘Total Recall’ below. It’s the dystopian Arnold Schwarzenegger film from 1990. Kinda funny since the cybertruck is facing a total recall right now 😂)

Tesla recalls all 3,878 Cybertrucks over faulty accelerator pedal

Tesla has issued a recall for effectively every Cybertruck it’s delivered to customers due to a fault that’s pinning down the vehicle’s accelerator pedals.

@ApproachingSteed This vehicle is better looking than a #CyberTruck. Of course, that's not saying much.
@ApproachingSteed A Cybertruck and a Fort Pinto had a lovechild.

@ApproachingSteed

I wonder if Elon would consider a divorce?

(you had to see the movie)

@ApproachingSteed The backend of TR car looks like an AMC Pacer.
@AoaI I heard both the cyber truck and the TR car we’re both modeled after the AMC Pacer 😂
@ApproachingSteed Someone washed the Cybertruck after midnight and got the Gremlin.

@ApproachingSteed

That thing is one of the ugliest ever designed by humans.

@ApproachingSteed That car still wasn't as edgy as the Cybertruck.
@rosewsgf I agree. I heard it’s sharp. Like the metal seams can puncture tires of other cars.
@ApproachingSteed
get the feeling that this here's the ubiquitous cheesy sci-fi prop quickie; tell me there's not an American Motors Corporation "Pacer" hiding under there...
@ApproachingSteed RG Riley Town Car. A kit electric car. Apparently. https://protected.hostcentric.com/rqriley/t-car.html
Town Car: A Hybrid-Electric Car

A 100-mpg hyrbid-electric car that you can build from plans. It was featured in Mechanix Illustrated magazine, and it appeared in the movie Total recall.

@ApproachingSteed One thing that always dates the “future” cars in movies - that wheel-to-tyre-sidewall ratio.
@ApproachingSteed I actually own plans for this car, it's called the Town Car. It was designed in 1981 by one Robert Q Riley, as a conversion kit for a VW type 1 chassis. Hybrid electric, as in it was an electric car with a two-stroke gas generator onboard. I had plans to build a whole in-dash computer system for it because at the time I thought living in a cyberpunk dystopia would be cool

@witty

Great story, that’s awesome. Honestly, I like the cyberpunk vehicles in ‘Total Recall’ way more than the #CyberTruck. Elon should have called you, IMO.

@ApproachingSteed @TheBreadmonkey Since we're sharing pictures of cool movie cars, here's one of my favorites.
@ApproachingSteed I just watched the TikTok linked in the article and… does it not have any speedometer? Do you just have to look at that tablet looking screen to see how fast you are? Or is it just hidden when it’s parking. I really hope it’s just hidden when it’s parking
@ApproachingSteed this thing looks like a death trap and an assault weapon at the same time. It doesn’t surprise me at all that it is dangerously badly constructed so that stuff like this happens. I do admit that the metallic surface material does look cool… but the design just hurts my eyes. The pure macho SUV ugliness… it screams toxic masculinity… And the shapes just clash.

@enby_of_the_apocalypse

I’m pretty sure it just has the screen. The interior/exterior of the #CyberTruck seems more like a ride at Universal Studios than anything else, IMO. Check out these ‘downsides’ from an owner:

@ApproachingSteed fucking hell. I would say how is that even allowed but I guess I’m too disillusioned about state regulations and stuff to say that
@enby_of_the_apocalypse yeah exactly, where’s the regulation? Having the public beta test a truck is absurdist.
@ApproachingSteed I know I’m breaking the joke, but… that’s clearly a DMC Gremlin.
