The #NYTimes once published an article saying that #Hitler wasn’t really that bad. He was just using #antisemitism as a way to attract followers & keep them excited about his #political campaign.
The NYTimes more recently published an article saying that #Trump isn’t really that bad. He is just using threats of #violence & #authoritarianism as a way to attract followers & keep them excited about his political campaign.
@molly0xfff a lot of the analysis in this piece about NPR also applies to the NYT, especially around political coverage. Not surprisingly they have the exact same blind spots

@molly0xfff maybe caving to his framing, but at least one poll shows the majority of Americans agree that Trump is racist. Not what I would call a far left opinion.
This will, at best, prompt what journalism failures sometimes do:
1. Seminars, panel discussions and essays in which those who failed say "On reflection, we should have done it differently."
2. Those same people doing the exact same thing the next time.
Journalism is like the Keystone Kops, if the Keystone Kops had sat around between movies going "On reflection, we shouldn't have parked the squad car on the railroad tracks."
In this world, it is up to us to destroy the NYT.
@molly0xfff No kidding. How is saying "Donald Trump is a racist" anything particularly novel, newsworthy, or even controversial? It's like suggesting "Charles Manson was murder-y" should become the subject of intense debate.
Again for the zillionth time…wtf is going on at the NYT?! 🙁
Anyone that Chris Rufo wants fired should receive a raise instead.
@molly0xfff This is what the NY Times is and has been for decades.
Also, Rufo is pond scum.
@molly0xfff NPR’s CEO Katherine Maher on the truth:
“Our reverence for the truth might be a distraction that’s getting in the way of finding common ground and getting things done.”
I hoped you watched the whole talk, where the main argument flows from Wikipedia's rule to not be about "The Truth" but about verifiability. Only this allows the fruitful discussions on Wikipedia.
