My eyes glaze over and i give a sigh and a shrug whenever people make accusations of #antisemism . Not because I don't think it is a serious issue. Just because the term has been so badly abused that I can no long trust it is ever being used appropriately. Usually it is conflated with #antizionism, which, as much as the zionists would like you to believe otherwise, are not the same thing.

@justicesandwich my understanding is that the ADL definition of antisemitism subsumes all criticism of the Israeli government, which is unworkable if one opposes both antisemitism and the Israeli government.

if the defining characteristic of the group is what you are against, such as opposing nazi-ism racism etc, then I don't see what the issue is, nor how it is unhealthy. I will happily admit I am prejudice against bigots and racists, but do not see that as being remotely equivalent to being antisemetic and prejudice against Jews. One is a fair characteristic to hold judgement against, the other is not. Tattered is quite correct in his assessment of you apparently holding antisemitism and anti-nazism as equivalent. Feel free to either clarify or block. Cheers.

Antisemitism isn't anti an ism, it's an ism anti a people.
In general, being anti an -ism is fine, it's a disagreement on a position. Or in the case of anti-capitalism, against something that is an ism the way an embolism or lathyrism are isms.

An "ism" applied to a group of people has always lead to prejudice.

All the other nuances, as you pointed out are valid... Because I'm anti-capitist without generalizing a group.

But... Zionism is not the same as capitalism; It is a spiritual belief intrinsic to Judaism since the Holocaust at least imo.
