Look, does anyone want to just buy all of my data? Rather than going through all this rigmarole, spending billions on AI, looking for ways to catch me out or circumvent Data Protection laws. It's probably all out there anyway. Just shut down all of your expensive projects, slip me a couple of million pounds and I'll tell you anything you want to know. It'll save you a fortune. Straight from the source. Locally sourced, organic and artisanal data. Fairtrade data.
@TheBreadmonkey Can we open source it for a tenner?
@TheBreadmonkey
you might want to build a expiry into that to squeeze more cash out of them at a later date:
-until I get a hair cut
-change my bodyshape

that kind of thing.

@Theriac

Until I next accidentally say the word 'karate'

@TheBreadmonkey since this is being sold anyway, why shouldn't we get paid for it. I don't remember anyone asking to sell this for me. I dont need an intermediary, just cash app
@TheBreadmonkey
But is your data gluten-free and free-range?

@TheBreadmonkey it's really not worth that much unless you get hundreds of thousands of users.

What is a social media website worth? What are you worth to these sites and companies?

@necromantrix @TheBreadmonkey that's quite personal!
@Niall @TheBreadmonkey yeah it's kind of a weird problem under bro liberalism because most of the harms aren't easily cashed out in terms of money, it's worth a very small amount of money to individuals and great deal of money to corporations.
@TheBreadmonkey
I know you're joking, but there are companies that give you points for compiling surveys and you can get stuff with those points.. same thing even though roundabout.

@TheBreadmonkey The O.G. "we want to track your data" scheme was retail/grocery store memberships. "Let us track all your purchases and associate it with your phone number/unique id, and we'll give you discounts on products."

I like that model, actually. There's a limited scope to the data they're collecting, a very clear trade-off, and opt-out by default. (You will get a pop-up/bugged by the cashier to join but it's pretty non-intrusive πŸ˜‰)

@TheBreadmonkey This sounds close to that thing that Tim Berners-Lee was trying to set up a few years back?
@TheBreadmonkey I get it. You’re trying to corrupt their datasets and make a quick buck at the same time. Smart.

@SailorDisco

I'll be honest - I just want money and am prepared to sell my personal IP to get it

@TheBreadmonkey Won't work. Your way cuts out the new coal-burning mega power stations step. Those are core to the AI scam.
