Somebody said that Trump isn't being put on trial in the middle of an election year.
Instead, Trump decided to run for president in the midst of his many criminal trials.
That's an important rephrasing that desperately needs airtime and headspace.

@clusterfcku @courtcan Half the electoral college voting blocks may be more accurate, given that the electoral college doesn't exactly line up as "Half" of the country:
See, for example, how to win the Electoral College with only 22% of the popular vote: [ https://youtu.be/7wC42HgLA4k?si=ag3R4rh5HEPvSs36 ]
Indeed. But the fact that people (not a shot at you) quibble over how ,"half" that "half" is, confirms the reality that, practically speaking, every other American with a voice likes him. He is not on the "under 10%" support where I would expect to find far right, or far left. He is right there doing what populists do well. --- apologies, this somewhat a copy of a reply I wrote moments ago
@courtcan I've said it before.
Running for President is a hobby, not a job. Nobody *has* to do it, and furthermore, it's no great loss in my opinion if any particular person is prevented from doing it.
There are maybe ~100 million Americans who are eligible to run for President. Whatever the number, it's a hell of a lot. The USA deserves the best President, and surely there are thousands of people as well qualified and as smart as any given candidate.
