😂
@nixCraft well NOW I'm definitely going to say "hittamul" even more

@nixCraft

That reminds me a legendary quote:
"Do you want to listen ÆM or FFUMMH ?"

In reference to the girl that don't know the abbreviation of AM and FM

@nixCraft there is also UK version like heightee ml or something
@nixCraft Now. I never heard of hittamul and now I want to use it.
The question is, since Markdown is sort of a small version of HTML, is it hittamul-ett?
In Finnish I've heard a colleague call it "hötämösä". Don't ask how it's pronounced..

@jakeRaccoon

Do you know how/why did the L become "sä" in that?

@njsg It's probably the only possible way to end that so-called word that does not sound utterly ridiculous..

Letter L is pronounced /æl/ and "sä" is pronounced /ˈsæ/, both containing the phonetic /æ/ which is the letter Ä/ä. Maybe has something to do with it, or maybe not. I'm no professional

@jakeRaccoon @njsg I'm pronouncing it "hötömölö", partly because it sounds so childish.
@nixCraft the “g” is silent
would like to know how this is pronounced in french. "ashtehemmel"?
@nixCraft Hot maal (Indians will understand)
@nixCraft
.... and for the love of all that it is good "Jason" is a fictional serial killer. Pronounce the technology as "Jay son"
@nixCraft The same applies to SQL
@nixCraft I’ve pronounced SQL by its letters, as “sequel”, and as “skewel” so everyone gets equal opportunity to yell at me.
@nixCraft wtf?? who even says that?? 😆️
@nixCraft I had a coworker once who said a previous position somehow made a custom HTML variant for some internal project they call BHTML and they pronounced is “buttmul”
@nixCraft but for SCSI you say scusi
@nixCraft in the 1990s there was an attempt by marketing people to pronounce http as “hit up” and I remember at least one TV advert with a voiceover saying ‘hit up w w w dot company name dot com’
@nixCraft sounds like something ThePrimeagen would say
