me_valentijnIt is indeed about sending a message: Don't even try, because if you do, you will lose and you will suffer in the process. Same goes with people on Putin's shit-list "falling" out of windows all the time.
People are secretive when there's a chance of successful resistance. But there isn't, as long as Putin maintains control over the military and the elite. And the other elites who would like to take over don't want a popular uprising against dictatorships in the process.
