Been feeling this way for about seven weeks now ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

edit: it's not a competition!

@Ten @lisamelton this so accurately captures my past few weeks, ugh.

I'm very lucky that my partner helped me come up with structured achievable goals for several day to help lessen my cognitive load.

@Ten

Only seven weeks?? This has been my last five yearsโ€”

@cavyherd It's not a competition.

@Ten

Funny, that's not what the capitlists seem to think.

(Narrator: It's not the least bit funny)

@cavyherd @Ten so true. corpos with whips ready.
@Ten Just looking at a meme about it is giving me panics.
@Ten same here. trying to do a few things every day the last few, not enough to stop the compounding stress. ๐Ÿ˜‘
@Ten Been there. Visit the place occasionally. Hope you find a way out.
@Ten I have been feeling exactly like this for the past several days! Thanks for articulating this so well in this meme.
@Ten ahh yes, the superpower of executive dysfunction

@Ten

Ooohh... This looks exactly like the nutshell I've been living in for the last fifteen years or so! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ญ

Edit:
No competing intended! Just very much recognizing what you're dealing with! ๐Ÿค—

(Also; When you find a way to fix it, please let me know!!)

@Ten 7 weeks? Iโ€™ve been feeling that way when I quit school in 2020 because I knew what was coming.
@Ten Yep. I'm ill right now, but I am used to go go go. The existential crisis /cognitive dissonance is real.
@Ten not a competition... but this is what fedi looks like now
@Ten I'm in this picture and I don't like it.
@Ten
I'm in this photo and I don't like it
@Ten literally me (I'm spiderman)

@Ten @WhatTheChel Thatโ€™s such a tough spot to be stuck in.

Iโ€™m rooting for you.

@lydiaschoch Thanks! At the very least, I'm making lists. That means I'm not at the total shut-down point yet. But I had to skip something important a few days ago to keep myself off that ledge. It sucked, but I'll be okay now...

@Ten you might know this better than me but I wanted to share in case you havenโ€™t read GTD.

I just listened to the book Getting Things Done by David Allen. The GTD method is all about getting things off oneโ€™s mind to help with feeling overwhelmed and stressed. While implementing it well can be a challenge for some, even just adopting parts of it might have mental health benefits. Allen even encourages people to take their own path and recognizes itโ€™s not needed all the time.

@Ten This speaks to me!

@Ten "I can't relax 'cause I haven't done a thing
and I can't do a thing 'cause I can't relax"

Comsat Angels
Independence Day

@Ten Also feeling overwhelmed by things before they even happen
@Ten Write them all down, put them in priority order, then start nixxing the lowest priority stuff until you have a manageable list of things to do. After that, reorder the list in "likelihood of completion" and do it again. That usually helps me when I start feeling overwhelmed.
@Ten @markigra I even developed a rational theory for this. If I get one thing out of twenty done or nothing at all only makes a 5% point difference in whether I'm getting everything done, so why botherโ€ฆ
@Ten same. I canโ€™t seem to shake it. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ’•
@Ten this is me for the last 12 months of writing my thesis
@Ten @briankrebs Can entirety sympathise, feel powerless and stressed when it gets like this. Thank fully I have the opportunity to work from home in my position the odd day here or there working I'm silence away from colleagues helps massively. Cant do anything about irritating non committal clients
@Ten @briankrebs Hope you find a way out or at least some relief
