@nixCraft
Yo, I just watched The Code Reporter's video on this OS.

It looks really cool, NGL.

and there must be cases when you'd want to seem like you're using Windows, but actually not.

@kohelet i think talis got the camouflage mode but not sure if they still got it.
@nixCraft I mean, if it means that we can stop using Windows or that Windows stop being the defacto OS, that's a step forward right?
@typositoire @nixCraft This being mostly a Windows 11 copy might not be good. Not everyone will want to get on something that resembles Windows 11, especially if they prefer a past Windows version.
Furthermore, it using Windows 11's interface could lead to copyright pursuit from Microsoft, so it may not be around for long.
Also, Windows hasn't been the de facto OS for several years - that goes to Android. Windows is only the lead on desktops & laptops now.
@nixCraft not to be confused with Uwuntu

@nixCraft

I‘d even rather use Poobuntu - the Ubuntu smeared with poo all over it - than this monstrosity.

@nixCraft They were so preoccupied with whether they could...
@nixCraft I never understood why Windows interface is desired, its clunky, and old not to mention very unnecessarily large. However, at least there is an option for those that seek it.
@adamsdesk @nixCraft If you’re trying to get non-tech people into Linux then it helps to start with a familiar interface I suppose
@nixCraft It looks like a Frankenstein creature...

@grum999 @nixCraft

<Windows Kernel Versions 6.2/6.3 has entered the chat>

@virtuous_sloth @nixCraft I had to test, then I've downloaded the iso and started the OS in a VM

The VM violently crashed after I tried to launch MS Teams...

@nixCraft I feel like this could work out as a perfect drop-in replacement for older computers once Windows 10 goes out of support (specifically the 10 skinned Cinnamon version).

@nixCraft
For me the only surprise is that it was not canonical itself which came up with this idea.
@nixCraft Unless it's Microsoft quietly floating an experimental boat? 🧐😂
@nixCraft Fuck Copilot.
It's their buyout of GitHub where they're stealing everybody's open-source code and claiming it's theirs.
@nixCraft Now this is one GREAT achievement. The familiar interface of Windows combined with a far less cluttered base (as far as Windows 11 being "familiar" goes for the most part).
The only thing I think it takes too far is by aborting the need for a unique feel to make others feel they need to move from Windows, & relying on an unoriginal & likely copyrighted source for its looks.
@nixCraft do people not remember what happened to Lindows?
@nixCraft If they somehow seamlessly integrated the Wine functionalities to "natively" support Windows apps, I'd be so impressed.
@freevolt24 @nixCraft yes, how to run win binaries?
Wine does not run all apps...

@freevolt24 @nixCraft FWIW

"… Run your favorite .exe and .msi applications with the improved Wine compatibility layer. …"

What's meant by 'improved', I have no idea (not interested in learning more, to be honest).

@freevolt24 @nixCraft Yes that is actually the biggest question for me too. How good is the compatibility and the performance when running Windows programs. The lack of Linux support for alot of major software is the reason I still have a Windows system.
@nixCraft at that point, why not just stick with Win 11. I see this as a joke distro, like Hana Montana Linux

@nixCraft

Windows but not as we know it!

I might try it!

@nixCraft If only it looked like win 95 …

@nixCraft The worst crime done here, imo, is that the 'community' is hosted on

sourceforge 🤣

@nixCraft what is this powertoys?
@nixCraft
It reminds me of Lindows/Linspire
@nixCraft "I'm using Wubuntu."
"Ah, you mean Ubuntu, right?"
"No, Wubuntu."
"...what?"
@nixCraft Actually, that can be very usefull for using Linux without being suspicious at the office :D
@nixCraft I see that the UI is a themed Plasma, I assume it's for also reproducing the same bugs than with a real Windows xD

Microsoft ecosystem
Enjoy embedded apps like Microsoft Edge, Teams, Skype, PowerShell, Code and more.

Why i should use on Linux System Powershell ? xD

@nixCraft isn’t this just linuxfx with a different name so they can differentiate it from the time they got hacked 2x for all their user information from the Licence

@nixCraft What the f. So finally Microsoft admits that Linux is better.
