as someone who doesn't do 3D stuff at all, what's the easiest way to edit a step file? I have a model of a button, and essentially all I need to do is drag the vertices at the top of the button over by a millimeter, to make the button stem taller. This feels like it should be easy and yet I feel completely out of my depth.
@joeycastillo Autodesk Fusion can handle these, I'm told
@nina_kali_nina @joeycastillo That's what I use, but not sure if registering and installing Fusion is the *fastest* way. I'm sure FreeCAD can also do it but I don't have any experience using it.

@joeycastillo I don't know what the easiest way is, but it's at least possible in #FreeCAD. It's just... easier if you already know FreeCAD.☺

Editing STEP file - FreeCAD Forum

@joeycastillo I would first check if the manufacturer has 3d models for the variation you want. Then I'd check snapeda.com. Then, since tact switch are often pretty interchangeable, I'd check Mouser or Digikey for another compatible part that has a 3d model. Then I look at grabcad.com to see if someone else has built a model already. And finally if none of those pan out, I use FreeCAD to edit it.
@joeycastillo I'd use #FreeCAD too. Reply if you get stuck somewhere.
