At any rate, given what I spent a year writing about, you can see why misinformation drives me absolutely bonkers.

The solution to the Firehose is not to try to debunk each falsehood but to put raincoats on the population.

This is why, instead of answering the latest DOJ / Garland outrage, I'm trying to get people to see that the outrage is the result of a media misinformation ecosystem / echochamber and encourage people to get out of it.

@Teri_Kanefield I appreciate this metaphor misinformation as firehose and raincoat as defense, but also want to observe that a firehose will knock you over, whatever rain gear you're wearing. You'll get wet on the ground.

It really seems like we also need a strategy to stop those who would point a firehose at people from doing that.

@Teri_Kanefield You will never get people out of an echo chamber as long as they believe the news they're getting is the one true source. The Fair and Balanced Doctrine needs to be restored!

@philpetree @Teri_Kanefield

Exactly, rules and regulations are needed in this chaos, that only begs for manipulation…

The communication and information ecosystem needs to be improved and cured.

@Teri_Kanefield I am not outraged, but I am incredibly anxious about how the system we have—and which Garland leads—isn’t meeting the threat of Trump and his followers. It’s not that I think there’s a conspiracy. I just would have been relieved if DoJ could rescue us before Fall 2024.

@ECR

Please go to my website, find the "resources" blog and read the DOJ and criminal law FAQ pages.

Also, to find out why you have these specific anxieties, start reading the pinned series, "There are no Yankees here."

@Teri_Kanefield I am so thankful to be out. I simply refuse to react to _anything political_ with hair on fire energy. I’m still pretty cynical, but no longer on an emotional rollercoaster. Thanks for being part of what brought me to this state. 😀
