I have the Empire of the Sun, South Pacific scenario set up and ready to go. The rule book has been a bit of a slog for me so hoping pushing the pieces will lift some of the fog.
@Pete and then even if you feel like you have a passing knowledge of the rules, knowing what to actually do is a whole other endeavor.
@gitano Agree. The "analysis paralysis" will be strong with this one.
@Pete I had that affliction for days... I finally just put the game up and set something else up that probably went through the same routine. Right now I'm committed to Atlantic Chase. What's succeeding with this one is that it has an excellent tutorial with historical narrative. It's a model for other games to follow.
@gitano I have AC on my to play list this year too. As far as EotS goes, it would be much more difficult without the fan made content on BGG and YouTube videos to help. A playbook/tutorial would be great. It takes work outside of the box to figure it out IMO. That said, I'm getting older and don't have the focus that I once did πŸ™‚
@Pete I know... This is literally me.
@Pete then this happens.
@Pete and then this...
@gitano Yup, I tend to fall back to the systems I already know how to play.
@Pete if I could just somehow figure out a way to stop buying games, maybe I'd get to a place where I actually have a few that I'm good at playing.
@gitano I've posted this before, but my daughter love to buy books and when I ask her if she reads them all she says, "buying books and reading books are two different hobbies". Same for me with games.
