Zitrone@greyan well ... the most boring thing in primary school was, when we had to "learn" (memorize) the EMPTY names of birds and plants! (its useless data, 100% none-information, spam, didnt get stored in _my_ brain.) what would have been interesting instead would have been learning about some of the amazing stuff they do, how some of that stuff works...

Floaty Birb@greyan why not both? have some children be druids who can name the plants and animals, and then have others that are bards and can name all the bands and celebrities.
James Fine Art (.art)@greyan I hear you . Was raised knowing a lot of plants and herbal recipes. Moved countries (and language) and discovered most folks can't name more than a few flowers. Now I have a few horticulturists and landscape gardeners to help out. My kids learnt some, but not so interested.
