It’s been exactly one year since Tweetbot was banned. The company formerly known as Twitter is now maybe worth 1/4 what it was. Coincidence?
@paul There are no coincidences.

@paul The implication must be that Tweetbot’s fair market valuation is the remaining 3/4th of Twitter’s past value.

Take that to the bank!

@paul That sounds like karma to me.
@paul I was on Twitter since 2009. At first the official app was very good, later I’ve mostly used TweetDeck and Tweetbot. Now it’s unusable anyway. I’ve deleted my account on X.
@paul you should do a poll. coincidence or not.
@paul It's all a part of one single swirling toilet bowl flush
@paul Tweetbot getting banned played a huge part in my decision to move to Mastodon. Ivory has helped a lot to make the Fediverse feel like home. You handled that really well. Best wishes to the whole team.
@searchparty @paul Yeah. Loosing access to Tweetbot made my decision to abandon Twitter really easy. The decision was basically made for me.
@343max @searchparty @paul Same here. The second Tweetbot stopped working was the second I stopped using Twitter.
@paul Still using a program written by Tapbots every day though!!
@paul 1/4 seems generous. I hope tapbots figured out a way to move on from the mess that was created. Happy Ivory subscriber here.

@paul

No smoke without fire!

@paul that’s the thing that made me leave 🤷🏻‍♂️

@paul

Only 25% left?

TRY harder!!! Not X is the right answer.

@paul Honestly if they had done everything they’ve done but KEPT third party clients they might be doing OK still 😅.

I need #tapbots to make more apps for stuff I like though. Email app, rss client, Lemmy/Kbin browser, etc… Where do I throw the money?!? 💰

@paul I remember when there was no official iOS client, then Tweetie got acquired and I’ce been a long-time Tweetbot user. So many fond memories of Twitter and such a shame it was put down that easily by one insane person.
@paul Hey, the new Twitter owner had a lot of toes to shoot off. Tweetbot was just one of them! (probably a big toe though 😄)
@paul #Mars is the next destination for X, where they also get rid of their "roBots" :) I
@paul I believe that Elon now being the owner of formerly Twitter is a good thing - But I have the feeling he's killing it slowly. The new branding is just not worth it, Twitter was fine and iconic.
@paul Can I triple star this in Ivory? ⭐️⭐️⭐️
@paul it’s simple math that tweetbot was providing 3/4 of twitter’s value
@paul It’s called “they reap what they sow”.
@paul I refused to use bird site from the moment I could no longer use Tweetbot. Haven’t looked back!
@paul no coincidence, but Muskincidence
@paul As Twitter was just the social network behind Tweetbot, I did not use it ever since.
Ivory replaced it and everything is fine.
Sometimes it’s just so easy.
@paul 1/4 is being very generous to the Muskrat.

@paul The only reason I didn't leave Twitter when they banned Tweetbot and Twitterrific was that I had already left at the beginning of the month.
@paul Yeah tweetbot was the only way I really wanted to interact with the platform. Now I just visit occasionally via web app but that’s it.
@paul well I checked Twitter daily using tweetbot. But since I have to use the official client. I don’t like it anymore. So I think more users stopped with Twitter because of that. But Twitter made more bad decisions. I wonder if it will survive this year. 😰
@paul I left Twitter over Tweetbot. I’ve stayed away for a variety of reasons, but Tweetbot is still high on the list.
@paul I joined twitter in October 2010, i loved Tweetbot from the first day,bought it and supported it all the way. Unfortunately Paul, after one year I don't see Mastodon attracting main percentage of disgruntled twitter users.
@paul
I like https://www.techdirt.com/2023/12/20/ny-proposes-mandated-open-access-to-social-media-apis/ though.
Not that I want Twitter in its current miserable state back but it would be sweet revenge to have the api back again for free 🤣
NY Proposes Mandated Open Access To Social Media APIs

Given just how many terrible state social media laws we keep seeing, it’s nice to finally see one that, conceptually, I agree with, though practically still worry about. NY state senator Brad Holym…

@paul Praying this happens to Reddit after the way they treated Apollo and its dev. 🙏
@paul TweetBot is still installed on my phone. 💔
