@michaelgemar @roberttsai @NewsDesk
I have been hoping that the SCOTUS agree with this idea and Biden immediately has the 5 execrable Justices sent to Guantanamo.
Trump’s attorney, John Sauer, tried to convince the judges that unless a president has been convicted by the Senate in a formal impeachment vote, he cannot be criminally prosecuted for actions he took while in office.
The judges appeared skeptical of this line of reasoning.
“You’re saying a president could sell pardons, could sell military secrets, could order SEAL Team 6 to assassinate a political rival” with impunity, said Judge Florence Pan, who was appointed by President Joe Biden.
I can’t even imagine what the three judges did-said in chamber after they laughed and laughed and laughed… then just stared at each other…. Wtf next…
Nervously chuckling about the sheer audacious absurdity for one of two potential heads of state come 2025 to be in your court making this argument.
Trump lawyers, erudite, need to get a pair. They knowingly obstructed justice by backing crazy stuff from trump cesspool in front of the justices in DC, who command the same veneration as by Scotus.
@roberttsai So is he just out there suggesting that Joe Biden can assassinate him and that will be covered by presidential immunity? Damn, if that's the case...
Seriously, I think this is just another indication that he is suffering from progressive dementia, first because he even believes this, but second, even if he does believe it why would he be putting that out there now when he's not in power? Does he think he's going to be ressurrected if someone kills him?
I sure hope the Surpreme Court justices will take note of this if/when they decide any cases on the limits of presidential immunity!
#executiveimmunity
It was mind blowing listening to this....
Have to see if The Onion can top this. Doubt it.
If he wins he loses....
Ok. Listen, Joe. You are in charge.
@roberttsai before the arrival of Trump on the political scene, this headline would have belonged in a dystopian novel. The sad truth is the shock value which it should hold (for it describes the epitome of a fascist regime) has been drained by years of Trump’s constant batshit verbal utterings.
How does the US protect itself from a rogue ex-President seeking re-election? Are we witnessing the constitutional cogs whirring into protective action? If not, then how? The stakes cannot be ignored.
FFS… lock this lunatic up, and remove his gang from the bar…
Or tell Joe he has Carte Blanche now!
Didn't he telegraph this before on his quotables before he was elected.... also waaaaaaay before he launched his Telegraph Social, didn't he, about '5th Ave and Shootings' , etc, in NYC?
Edit: Yep. 2016

@roberttsai Exclusions may apply…
Wilhoit's law: “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
@roberttsai Do you close the headline of the year competition early in these circumstances @paulisci ?
“Sauer later argued the threat of prosecution could have a chilling effect on future presidents’ decisions, saying they would need to look over their shoulder and ask, “Am I going to jail for this?” when making controversial decisions.”
In a perfect world, laws would have chilling effects. :-)
@roberttsai So, does that mean that once Trump is nominated, he, his family, his security team, and their families need to find a bolt hole to hid in, because if Trump can assassinate his rivals, so can Biden.
And there's no place on this planet where a group that large could hide without some security gap. Trump could throw everyone but his security team under the bus, but the team still has family and loved ones. He'd best pick the lamp post he wants his body to hang from, along with the rest of his team.
