what video editing software do people use/recommend? I've been using Vegas for a while but it doesn't do so many things that I'm thinking of just trying to switch and get used to something else rather than constantly supplement it with other editors/tools. I use VSDC for things I can't do in Vegas, is it worth it to get the full version of that, or is there something else that people like to use? (compatible with Windows 10)

(I'm looking for personal recommendations only from people who regularly cut/edit videos)

@ami_angelwings The wife says Final Cut 10 is the best, but a pain in the butt to find, so Final Cut Pro.
@ami_angelwings I use Vegas and do not particularly like it; I am used to it, but that also has just taught me a list of things to not try.
@Talen_Lee as in, there are things you don't do because vegas doesn't do them, or other programs you wont' try because they're like vegas?
@ami_angelwings things I don't bother doing in vegas because I can't make it do them
@ami_angelwings Davinci Resolve is great (especially considering you can have a full fledged version for naught dollars naught cents), but it can be a bit overwhelming at first because it's a full package of video editing from just cutting/editing to color grading to motion graphics

@ami_angelwings Depends on what you need.

If #Vegas doesn't fulfill your demands, then I'd disrecommend #Kdenlive and #PremiereElements and instead recommend to try #DaVinchiResolve...

Even it's free version is pretty cool and powerful and even if you want to buy the full version, you'd still have a single one-time purchase...

@ami_angelwings - I use KDenlive for Linux. I've only used it for light stuff such as making the intro for our Movie Riffing group, but the other functions show a lot of promise.

@ami_angelwings I use kdenlive when I need to cut videos.
@ami_angelwings honestly, I use Adobe Premiere and I've never found anything cheaper I'm willing to live with. It's as much warning as recommendation.
@ami_angelwings i use shotcut, but i do mot do much fancy with it, mainly just cutting

@ami_angelwings

I use the free version of DaVinci Resolve. It is very full-featured and I rarely bump into the features that would require purchasing the license.

@ami_angelwings for quick cutting e.g. getting short clips from a video, I use kdenlive. it's basically vegas except free. for anything else more involved I use davinci resolve which is also free. the downside being that you have to transcode all your footage before resolve can work with them but the upside is it's ridiculously powerful and free
