Meta has engaged in a โ€œsystemic and globalโ€ censorship of pro-Palestinian content.

In a scathing 51-page report, Human Rights Watch documented and reviewed more than a thousand reported instances of Meta removing content and suspending or permanently banning accounts on Facebook and Instagram that were supportive of Palestinians https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/dec/21/meta-facebook-instagram-pro-palestine-censorship-human-rights-watch-report

Meta censors pro-Palestinian views on a global scale, report claims

Rights group says Facebook and Instagram routinely engage in โ€˜six key patterns of undue censorshipโ€™ of content supporting Palestine

@taylorlorenz There is so much #antisemitism on #threads right now, so much hatred, that I can hardly feel any sympathy for this.

There is no right for hate against jewish people!

And still we are talking about a country that fights international TERRORISM ...

@AndyGER @taylorlorenz ..while it systematically slaughters thousands of Palestinians. You might want to revist your compass there mate
@AndyGER @taylorlorenz You...felt the pain of marginalisation and, instead of becoming *more* sympathetic to other who suffer similarly, you became *less* so?
@OctaviaConAmore @taylorlorenz I love being judged by people who do not know me. ๐Ÿ–• ...

@AndyGER @taylorlorenz Thank you for the reply, but I think you've misunderstood me, which perhaps isn't too surprising considering English is my second language

I didn't make a statement about your character, I asked a question. If you'd like to answer my question with "no, feeling marginalised has increased my sympathy for other marginalised peoples because we have similar experiences", nothing would be stopping you from doing so

@OctaviaConAmore @taylorlorenz I'm shortsighted from the first year of my life so please do not tell me anything about feeling marginalised. Even this maybe not the same.

My first language is German.

@AndyGER fuck off
@MsNostromo You first ... ๐Ÿ–•๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜Ž

@AndyGER @MsNostromo

Don't mind her. She was just "listening to make people feel heard"

@AndyGER

To me that's part of the same picture. Antisemitism on Threads is another example of how Facebook can't be trusted with moderation.

@AndyGER @taylorlorenz
How the hell is reporting the suppression of pro Palestine posts anti-Semitism? Ye keep pulling this weird out whenever suits as a usual distraction from Israeli human rights violations, you're begining to cheapen it. #ZionistScumFuckOff
@Riverweaver1 @taylorlorenz Blocked & reported ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€ ...
@AndyGER @taylorlorenz again, zionists are not jews and millions of jews are fighting zionism. Only the greatly brainwashed, Indoctrinated and miseducated would coke to such a vague conclusion and believe it to be a powerful message from themselves.
@taylorlorenz Meta/Threads is why I'm leaving mastodon.social for another instance, perhaps mas.to or social.coop. #meta #threads
@taylorlorenz Think about who Mark Zuckerburg is... He will support Israel. He is bound to support Israel.
@britishtechguru
That's quite a cryptic statement. What do you mean by this? What about Zuckerberg makes him "bound to support Israel"? Could you please give a bit more context?
@Raccoon If I am correct, Mark Zuckerburg is Jewish.

@britishtechguru
There were so many other responses you could have given to this that weren't absolutely racist: not all Jewish people support Israel, or even think it should exist.

TechHub is not the place for these kinds of wild hot takes. Please go find a different instance, as we will no longer be platforming you on this one.

@taylorlorenz

I am ...

shocked?

No no not that.

@taylorlorenz Time to focus attention on Meta, and not just the once-fine social media site formerly known as Twitter. May Elon Musk rot in hell, and Zuckerberg with him.
@taylorlorenz this is a learning opportunity!!
@taylorlorenz Meta is censoring pro-Hamas terrorist lies, hate, and genocidal material? Good! It has not only a right but a moral duty to do so.

@brettglass @taylorlorenz

What article are you replying to? Because it's certainly not the one linked in the original post.

@taylorlorenz they take down everything I say bit for somw reason let my music stay up which is 1000x more intense and unfiltered. Probably cause theyre getting good profit from my views while I get nothing
@taylorlorenz this was true 14 years ago and is far worse today: https://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/20/opinion/20bernstein.html
Opinion | Rights Watchdog, Lost in the Mideast

In repeatedly condemning Israel, and mostly ignoring closed regimes in the Middle East, Human Rights Watch is drifting from its core values, and its role as a global arbiter of morality.
