Just cancelled another newly overpriced streaming service.

Now down to just two, and will drop one of those before much longer. The plan going forward is to subscribe for a month periodically to one of the many that have been cancelled, in rotation, and catch up on a few must-eventually-see shows/films.

@dangillmor What's on the list?

Edit: As in, what's the list of must-see films, not what's the list of sevices

@dangillmor I’ve been doing the exact same thing (subscribe for one month only) for several years now. It amuses me to get the nag emails to restart service “for $6.99 for the first month!” and then delete the message.
@dangillmor If you don't already, cancel the minute you subscribe and then you have it for a month
@dangillmor I am planning to do the same. This is what makes the most sense actually, as there is more good content that you can actually watch
@dangillmor same here. I'm down to one (because I'll subscribe to Apple Music no matter what anyway)

@dangillmor DEAD: Early adopters

BREAD: Early opt-outers

@dangillmor
If you have Apple, Slow Horses s3 starts this week.
@mvario I do have that (year subscription for $70) and will cancel when it expires next spring, as they've raised the price to $100.

@dangillmor
Wow, that's a big price jump. I guess this is the "enshittification" phase of streaming.

But if you haven's seen Slow Horses with Gary Oldman catch it while you can. It's really good.

@dangillmor @mvario I had 2.5 years for free but there is no way the content is worth more than the original $5 price. There’s like 5 shows on there I’ve watched and really, really enjoyed and a couple good movies.
@dangillmor If you have Verizon Apple One is only $10. I canceled my subscription after this last price hike only to get an email from Verizon like half an hour later. It's cheaper than Apple Music + iCloud.
@dangillmor reminds me of chasing credit card 1 year no interest and no transfer fees. Did that for three years.
@dangillmor good idea, I also augment with live OTA TV and my collection of ripped Blu-rays on #Plex
@dangillmor We have started going to rotating subscriptions as well. We wait until an entire season of something we want to watch is ready, then subscribe. We are still at 2 subscriptions, with a new years goal of going to 1
