Meanwhile over on tumblr they have raised the "bad hot take" to an art form.
(eh. I think he could pull it off, maybe with some matte finish contacts to deaden the eyes... and some padding... Page's eyes are too warm and human. )

hard candy implies he can shut it off when needed
i'm always shocked by how few people have seen that film
not because it's the best film - although i say what the film does best isn't actually having a message about the content of the film, but the viewer's fascination with the content as it is laid out - my sense of feeling enthralled while watching the is what disturbed me, not a message of who was right/wrong etc
i think if you try to take the film as a film on its subject matter, not on its viewer (which is probably what was intended) it's flawed and okay
the reason i'm shocked is because its indie film festival reception is what brought elliot page to notoriety and usually when a young "actress" appears out of "nowhere" folks go looking for where "she" came from
i often wonder if coming out will reduce his "flexibility" as there's less a degree of separation between him and the roles he's given to treat them as Not Himself
but then i remember it's none of my business how it affects his craft as that's so internal and even if it "hurts" his career i mean
that's just the trans life
but ya gotta do it
one of the "bad girl" young female actors who disappeared for a bit after a "meltdown" (can't remember who) discussed how a bit part of her struggle was being put in roles that didn't match her gender identity and the toll that took on her
acting is dangerous
(and cis people also have gender)
yes, but a lot of (especially young) actors have come forward and talked about the emotional damage done by taking on roles that caused significant dysphoria to them
it was less a typecast situation and more a "acting to be the role of a boyish girl" caused her significant distress despite being able to do it well which is part of what led to her mental spiral
@futurebird I would only consider seeing an Elon Musk biopic if Elliot Page was playing Musk.
I still probably wouldn't see it, but the concept would funny enough that if I was in someone's living room and they put said biopic on the TV that I probably wouldn't flee the room.
Biopic actors always are.
I would be played by Janelle Monet, for example.
Here me out... Janelle Monet is a math and CS nerd obsessed with ants and uncovers a plot to destroy the reputation of public transit and prevent the construction of high speed trains in the US, together with the ants, math, and more nerds she saves the trains.
It's a movie everyone can relate to isn't it? Really what we've all been waiting for. I don't know why they haven't made it yet.
