Saying peace is impossible because "Hamas wants a permanent state of war" is short-sighted and naive. ALL "blood feuds" from the Irish Troubles to the US Civil War were fueled by perpetual grievances where one or both sides declares the other side as evil, subhuman, unworthy of life.
Intergenerational hate is a _habit_ that can only be broken by interrupting the cycle of retaliatory violence. As the Beatles sang, "Give peace a chance."
