During his campaign, Trump has...

-Vowed to investigate NBC and MSNBC for “treason”

-Warned of “death & destruction” if he's convicted of crimes

-Attacked his political opponents with racist stereotypes

It's not a stretch to call Trump a fascist. It's our obligation.

@rbreich We should be careful with the words we use.

Trump is a more like a Nazi than a fascist.

@rbreich during the campaign he can talk, but will he really do any of that?
@paninodesu @rbreich He has proven his capacity for concrete antidemocratic action and instigation.

@paninodesu Let us take a clue from history: They (dictators, mafia bosses etc) always, always, described, well ahead, what they want to do, and then they did it - or worse. Hitler, Putin are examples of this.

@rbreich

@rbreich
100% he is a fascist. He follows the playbook. Political violence in order to establish a one party state...
@BluesHarp @rbreich the same true for Ba'ath (ArabSoc), Leninists, Maoists or even Hamas (who are alqaeda), they all violently send all opposition to gulag

@rbreich
I totally agree.

What do you make of the fact that Trump still has so many followers?

@stargazersmith
"What do you make of the fact that Trump still has so many followers?"

This is a question that's been keeping me awake at nights, when I'm not having nightmares about it.

@stargazersmith @rbreich Because some people really, really don't want to have to think for themselves.
@rbreich True. The question is, how many of his party will follow him all the way down the fascism rabbit hole? And when they still when, as is likely, he is convicted of one or more of the 91 crimes for which he's been indicted?
@rbreich I mean it's a proven fact that he is a facist.

@rbreich
"-Warned of “death & destruction” if he's convicted of crimes"

I don't think we are getting out of this without violence. Threats should be taken seriously, but we can't be intimidated.

@rbreich

Maybe they should write a nice and neutral piece about him…

@rbreich He needs a history lesson on the fate of most fascists!
@rbreich it was not long ago we were called alarmists for using the word fascist. This is despite the cabinet filled with open white supremacists amongst so much data pointing it out. It’s the Democratic Party that needs to acknowledge this or it’s just business as usual and a room full of ideas bad and good…blah blah blah BAM now you live under authoritarian fascists. Dems like it too because it keeps the party in the game. They might even engage in a lil fascist play, …

@rbreich

And the boards of NBC and MSNBC asked: "How will this affect our quarterlies?

A: "Projections are upward, as are deaths."

"Yeah, but what matters are projections are good."

@rbreich And apparently thinks he’s running against Obama.
@rbreich #Trump has now also compared opponents to 'vermin' (which got far less attention than Hillary Clinton talking about 'deplorables'), he is planning to muzzle the Department of Justice, and his organization is pre-screening employees for compliance with the 'Project 2025' fascist policies already.

@rbreich The States should better deny he was a real president, but just an paid substitute actor.

Trump is dishonoring what a POTUS stand for. Every damn day. It like a dean of a elite university is on crack after losing his job.

@rbreich His MO seems to be, blackmail your opponent or toss them in jail. Putin tricks are rubbing off.
@rbreich Joseph Stalin comes to mind when comparing #DonaldTrump to past dictators
@rbreich But will it make any difference? I mean we've seen how angry people were towards the concept of "antifa" so just going full-fascist might only be a selling point.
