#FPQuestion of the day:
What were your “gateway” vintage pens? What would you recommend as a first vintage pen for someone who has never bought vintage but is interested?

@penfount this is a great question. I only have these marginally vintage pens like Sheaffer No Nonsense. They are some of my favorite, but they haven't led to me to buy other vintage pens only more No Nonsense. #FountainPen #VintagePens
@r0b07ca7 @penfount I bought one of these last year as part of my elite secret santa gift. After having tried it out before cleaning and gifting, I was very tempted to get one for myself. The really neat thing was the ease of obtaining other nib sizes on ebay.

There's a surprising amount of new old stock available on eBay. The only downside with the No Nonsense is that their cartridges can leak if used too many times. Their converters work great, but are on the pricey side for converters even on Ali Express. I have heard of people eyedroppering the translucent ones though. 😬

@r0b07ca7 @penfount have you had look for converters lately? Last couple of months or so? . There was some supply issues due to the takeover of sheaffer last year, but that has now been resolved afaik. And they can be bought for as little as £8.

Personally I've been telling cartridges for my sheaffer pens, but that's a something I've preferred to do for most of my pens.

@Halfcelestialelf @penfount
I'm always on the lookout for Sheaffer converters. I think they've been hard to get for at least the past couple years, but I have noticed better availability recently.

£8 seems pretty steep for a converter, but not for Sheaffer. The cheapest I've found is AliExpress.
Cult Pens have them for £6.99.

I'd love the old design ink bottles with the built in inkwells to come back. They did for a while, but they seemed to have changed the bottles again?
