quite the banner week for "separating the art from the artist," huh
it's been years since i've seen anyone say that about an actually good piece of art, lol

[slurping up slop from the trough] have you ever heard of 'death of the author,' tho

[waterboarding myself with mediocre garbage] art is complex and can signify many things to many people

[getting visibly red because someone posted a spoiler about how a guy named Professor Fig dies] unlike you, i have a very sophisticated relationship with fiction

…

i see a lot of people trying to engage with these justifications and i just don't think you should, tbqh — you'd be wasting time parsing bullshit

a kinda meta thing that stands out for me, though:
anyone who's like, "i don't agree with transphobia but what about my connection to an idealized childhood" is signalling they're pretty suggestible when it comes to conjuring up carveouts — think of the children, those particular trans people are too radical, &c. &c.

if you were really "separating the art from the artist" you'd at least Mikufy it like people did with Minecraft, but the reality is that:
1. this particular author still controls all this shit with an iron fist
2. the Harry Potter Expanded Merchaverse sucks too hard to associate it with Miku

(fin)

@saddestrobots "Think of the children" except the children literally don't exist outside their nostalgia
@saddestrobots that's the saddest thing, i've read Warhammer 40k novelizations that are vastly better than anything Rowling has to offer
@ancient_catbus @saddestrobots one day the Horus Hersey series will be recognised alongside The Iliad & The Odyssey
