Monospace fonts for your terminal, but with ligatures that give e.g. "m" more space if it is next to narrower characters like "i" or "l".

Monaspace

An innovative superfamily of fonts for code

@nblr wtf, no!
@manawyrm Hear me out: the m will never spill over into the bounding boxes of adjacent characters' spaces, but it will fill the maximum width if it doesn't hurt the empty spaces of those characters.
@nblr sorry I'm with @manawyrm on that one.
@funkylab @manawyrm I see the point - monospace characters should in theory render the same in all places - however I’m willing to give this a try due to the Hirnschmalz that went into this.
@nblr whoa, this is really neat. I wonder if anything beside VS Code is going to be compatible with it
@mav I’ll give iTerm2 a go.
@nblr This is a hell of a rabbit-hole. Well done.
@nblr that feels cursed to me. I'm not liking these slight misalignment vibes it gives.
@nblr it's funny, how I can appreciate the thought and work that went into this and find it very fascinating, but at the same time am very sure I never want to use this.
@nblr I'm blown away by the detailed interactive explanation they have on their website. That being said, the actual font doesn't look noticeably different to me, even if I toggle back and forth with the "Texture..." switch 🤷
@floe I noticed that too. But the illustrations further down do show a clear difference.
I suspect the texture healing feature might be unsupported in the browser I used (mobile Safari). Or that there‘s a bug on the website.
@nblr I never really noticed but now I can't unsee, thanks
@nblr there is no more room in my heart next to IBM Plex Mono Nerd font 😍
@nblr The name is pretty genious.
