Harlan Crow and a few billionaires have provided Clarence Thomas with:

-38 destination vacations

-26 private jet flights

-6 helicopter flights

-Yacht voyages

And we're going to let Thomas rule on Moore v. US, which could permanently shield billionaires from a wealth tax?

@rbreich You mean “have provided Clarence Thomas with *at least*:”

Those are only the ones we know of, so far.

@rbreich No one has the cajones to impeach him either. @aoc
@rbreich I don't know about you, but my faraway friends send me, idk, *cake* or mixtapes and I feel lucky. I don't have friends like Clarence has.(Also, doesn't the billionaire being named "Harlan Crow" make you feel that Elmore Leonard has turned to scripting real life?!)

@rbreich We don't have a choice. That's how the SCOTUS rules were set by the people who also didn't have the foresight to anticipate a traitor getting through the nomination, election, electoral college and 2 impeachments with cover from an entirely corrupt political party behind him.

We do not have the legal apparatus in place to defeat the threats that have been accruing unanswered since the founders compromised to preserve slavery.

@gooba42 @rbreich bingo. agreed

the US is still under an ongoing attack by Russian traitors. much of Republican leadership has shown themselves to be in league with them

only a few have rejected it or resisted, like Romney, Cheney, Kinzinger, even Pence and McConnell in part

@rbreich of course we are, that's the American way
@rbreich
The fix has been in for some time now. And Mitch McConnell is fine with that.

@rbreich

They get what they paid for

@rbreich

He should be impeached. Former VA governor Bob McConnell was found guilty of criminal charges for accepting gifts.

@rbreich I think this is the source for these data: https://www.propublica.org/article/clarence-thomas-other-billionaires-sokol-huizenga-novelly-supreme-court. I’m not disputing these numbers, but I’d suggest that you’re doing the world a great disservice by asserting numbers without citing their sources. IMO making such factual assertions without citation is exactly how actual fake news gets started, and knowledgeable people like @rbreich ought to set a better example
Clarence Thomas’ 38 Vacations: The Other Billionaires Who Have Treated the Supreme Court Justice to Luxury Travel

The fullest accounting yet shows how Thomas has secretly reaped the benefits from a network of wealthy and well-connected patrons that is far more extensive than previously understood.

ProPublica
@rbreich how does it feel to be an American?

@rbreich It's not a matter of "allowing" Clarence Thomas to rule on the case. Under our system of government, he is one of the nine god-emperors, and only he can determine whether he must recuse himself.

At least, "god-emperor" is the role that the US Supreme Court acts as if he holds.

@rbreich
It's not a fault of the system, it's a feature!
@rbreich who's we? I'm dead opposed but nobody asked me
@rbreich they always do for themselves. It’s the American way.
