@nixCraft I mean ... I can't disagree!
@nixCraft and this is why it's rock solid 😅
@nixCraft But the fabric was updated from 50% nylon to 100% cotton.
@nixCraft I’ve been rolling Debian 12 on the new VMs as I roll them up. I’m becoming more of a fan :D
@nixCraft it's worse.
Virtualbox guest additions doesn't work. Some sources say it's because of transition from X11 to wayland.
Probably not related to that, Vbox shared folders are not accessible, either.
And system updates will show some progress lines after reboot. Feels Windows-ish.
@Acvaristul_Lenes @nixCraft
Those are courtesy of VirtualBox and GNOME. Debian just brought the latest version of them.
@danialbehzadi @nixCraft you're right. That's a perspective I missed somehow.
@nixCraft me when android does this vs me when debian does this

@nixCraft

My distro at least changes the theme for minor releases. :-)

@nixCraft
I still have to do this for one unicorn of a server, and this meme gives me calm reassurance. Thank you!

@nixCraft
Neat, running sudo apt upgrade --without-new-pkgs before the standard sudo apt full-upgrade ensures nothing is removed.

I've been manually running apt install dpkg apt apt-tools before these just in case the installation logic has improved.

@nixCraft only thing I really disliked is that the Gnome Shell dash is at the bottom instead of the left. Luckily there's an extension for that.
@nixCraft
Even more stable than so-called enterprise distributions if you ask me.
@nixCraft I left Debian after years of bugs went unfixed that cost me a lot of money, sweat, and tears. Just one example, Debian: "we're going to set up your server to auto-reply and unsubscribe from all spam!"
@nixCraft Lol, it's the same shit! right ? :P
@nixCraft Why mess with perfection?
@nixCraft That right there is the joy of Debian stable.
@nixCraft but this is also why I’ve been struggling all day to get #neovim 0.9 on my Debian 12 servers.
@bartdorsey @nixCraft i'm experimenting with #neovim from flatpak. Which is kind of bonkers, but it gives me a full new shiny IDE and a basic stable #vim for admin work at the same time. There were some gotchas, but it works nice now.
@nixCraft I'm apparently unlucky and have a bunch of stuff that wants older versions of libraries than 12 ships with. I might end up reinstalling with 11 instead of playing manual dependency whack-a-mole
@nixCraft Except you get emerald instead of hometown for plymouth (if you use GNOME, which I don't).
@nixCraft Just run testing and don't worry about the Debian release upgrades ;)

@nixCraft
You'll get some Arch user saying "You have versions…?"

I use Arch btw 🐧
