Did a solid 12 miles today on the CZ Trail here in Oregon with the #alaskanhusky Yoté. The sun was out yet the temperature was cool. This is my favorite kind of running weather.

@clovertalk CZ is so good and somehow I only think to go there every few years
@jbr I only started running on it this year. Such a nice experience, and less busy then forest park. Plus the dog can be off leash for a lot of it, which is a huge bonus.
@clovertalk I can't let go of the idea of running from scappoose to banks by connecting cz to banks-vernonia (or possibly the other direction). And eventually with salmonberry, it should be able to go from scappoose to the coast entirely on rail-trail

@jbr I have some friends that live in Scappoose who have done this…I think during the beginning of the Pandemic as a replacement for a race. I think it would be a really interesting challenge.

Super excited for the Salmonberry project to finish. Hadn’t even considered linking that up with the other two!

@clovertalk 🏃‍♂️ 🐕!!!!

Do you usually run leash on?

@jeromechoo It depends on the environment. On most trails she is off leash. We have an e-collar on her in case she catches a scent, and she typically responds well to recall. On this particular trail, she is on leash for a couple miles due to proximity to the road. Most weekday runs are in our neighborhood, so she is on leash then as well. On leash bonus: my average pace ticks up about half a minute/mile 🤣.
@clovertalk I think my heart rate would tick up about 30% faster if I had Stella on a leash. She would clothesline me without a thought. Also why I never run with her lol.
@jeromechoo 🤣🤣
@jeromechoo I think the fact that she is a former sled dog works to our advantage when she is on a leash. She has an innate understanding of it and her relationship to it with regard to others, when she is running. Of course, getting her not to pull has been a long battle, and will likely always be something we work on.
