Most of you probably won't like this, but I think within 18 months Bluesky is going to emerge as the most popular alternative to Twitter.
@conradhackett Perhaps "popularity" isn't the fundamental criteria to judge the value of a social media platform.
@halfempty Well, one of the things I liked about Twitter was that due to its size, it was possible to find people talking about things happening NOW, whether local weather situations, TV shows, etc. Critical mass makes such wide-ranging timely discussions possible.
@conradhackett Certainly, a sufficient participation must exist for the platform to be effective. Personally, I have found a sufficient level in the Fediverse, in both Mastodon and Lemmy/Kbin.
