@halfempty Well, one of the things I liked about Twitter was that due to its size, it was possible to find people talking about things happening NOW, whether local weather situations, TV shows, etc. Critical mass makes such wide-ranging timely discussions possible.
@conradhackett Certainly, a sufficient participation must exist for the platform to be effective. Personally, I have found a sufficient level in the Fediverse, in both Mastodon and Lemmy/Kbin.
@conradhackett@halfempty What I liked most about Twitter was the particular people who I could interact with there. Some (especially journos and local politicos) are still just there, some have moved here, some to bsky, some doubtless to other places I don't go (e.g. Threads). Wherever most of them end up is where I'll mostly be. I think you're right about critical mass, but different people prefer different masses.
