With all the doom sowing from Chris Luxon and National, are they lying to the #NewZealand public about the amount of debt NZ is in?
In the lead up to the #NZVotes23 I thought I would take a quick squiz at NZs comparative debt to GDP:
Debt to GDP Ratio by Country 2023:
United States — 128%
Canada — 89.7%
United Kingdom — 80.7%
Australia — 45.1%
New Zealand — 19%

The statement I saw was around our current account deficit, which apparently is the widest in the OECD https://data.oecd.org/chart/7bRo, but from my reading, has very little bearing on national debt
