Oy! So this instance is now running Mastodon 4.2 which among other things has a "search" that works more like actual search :) Y'all might want to go to Settings -> Public Profile -> Privacy and enable indexing of your posts.
@aras Woah, that was fast 🥰
Thanks a lot Aras! 🙏
@aras just turned it on! Thank you!
@aras Great! And opt-in is the way to go. Thanks!
@aras Thanks!
(I’ve opted in.)
@aras Thanks, done. 👍
@aras thanks for the quick update
@aras Thanks! Mostly I’ll be using this to search my own posts once I forget something useful 😉
@sinbad @aras Nice! It's about time Mastodon had proper search, rather than people screaming "USE HASHTAGS!" at everyone. 😁

@KeefJudge @sinbad @aras Have you folks managed to get multi term search working?

Current UI seems to need some improvements or I am just bad at this.

E.g. "from: @ashemedai" requires a space between : and @, otherwise no workee.

But doing something like: freebsd from: @ashemedai yields nothing

@asmodai @sinbad @aras Seems to work for me "from:@KeefJudge test" gives me a result, and "from:@KeefJudge" shows all my toots.
@KeefJudge @sinbad @aras Nevermind, I'm an idiot. >_<
Forgot that on fediverse I am actually using this account name, mind was stuck on the old one at Twitter.
@aras It took me a moment to find this tab, but I'm there! Thanks for the quick update!
@aras how can I turn off email notifications? they annoying and I looked to settings, not found checkbox maybe I missed it
@danil no idea, this is just stock mastodon. if it has some settings for emails somewhere, then it does. if not, then not.
@aras found it
Preferences -> Notifications
3 checkboxes by default
@aras done! Thanks for the info!
@aras Note that your posts are already being indexed and always have been for your own searches. What you enable with that option is people who don't follow you to be able to find your posts with a search, which some people may not want to enable to avoid harassment.
@aras super cool. One question: would it be possible to up the max video resolution? It's very cumbersome having to manually down-scale videos recorded on hdpi screens. I'm happy to sponsor any additional infra cost this would add.
@badlogic no idea, this is just stock Mastodon so the limit is whatever Mastodon does
